A lesson in Arab/Muslim fascism: My ‘Arabism’ is “purer” than yours…

February 8, 2012

Don’t you love it when the Islamic lobby like CAIR keeps preaching about “islamophobia,” ignoring the bastion of intolerance today, which is, in fact the Arab world. One such exmpale is Syria, where the Alawite “supremacists” rule all the other. [This is not to say that other Arab nations are tolerant. Take for example the plight of Chrisrians under Arab-Palestine, Copts in Egypt, indigenous Berbers in Morocco/Algeria/Tunisia/Libya; blacks all over the Arab world, Asians [practically slaves] in rich Arab countries, etc. Or the genocide in Sudan by Arab racists].

Last but not least, asides from the other totaltiarian regime in the area, Islamic Iran and its Hezbollah of Lebanon, the main backer of Syrian dictatorship is the SSNP:

SSNP adopted the styles of Fascism: Saada was known as al-za’im (the Führer) and the party anthem was “Syria, Syria, über alles” sung to the same tune as the German national anthem.

9/11 conspiracy theories rife in Muslim world [WashingtonPost]

ISTANBUL — About a week ago, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad declared to the United Nations that most people in the world believe the United States was behind the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.

To many people in the West, the statement was ludicrous, almost laughable if it weren’t so incendiary. And surveys show that a majority of the world does not in fact believe that the U.S. orchestrated the attacks.

However, the belief persists strongly among a minority, even with U.S. allies like Turkey or in the U.S. itself. And it cannot be dismissed because it reflects a gulf in politics and perception, especially between the West and many Muslims.

“That theory might be true,” said Ugur Tezer, a 48-year-old businessman who sells floor tiles in the Turkish capital, Ankara. “When I first heard about the attack I thought, ‘Osama,’ but then I thought the U.S. might have done it to suppress the rise of Muslims.”

Compassion for the United States swept the globe right after the attacks, but conspiracy theories were circulating even then. It wasn’t al-Qaida, they said, but the United States or Israel that downed the towers. Weeks after the strikes, at the United Nations, President George W. Bush urged the world not to tolerate “outrageous conspiracy theories” that deflected blame from the culprits.

However, the subsequent wars in Iraq and Afghanistan provided fodder for the damning claim that the U.S. killed its own citizens, supposedly to justify military action in the Middle East and to protect Israel. A 2006 survey by the Pew Global Attitudes Project found that significant majorities in Egypt, Indonesia, Jordan and Turkey – all among the most moderate nations in the Islamic world – said they did not believe Arabs carried out the attacks.

Two years later, a poll of 17 nations by WorldPublicOpinion.org, an international research project, found majorities in nine of them believed al-Qaida was behind the attacks. However, the U.S. government was blamed by 36 percent of Turks and 27 percent of Palestinians.

Such beliefs have currency even in the United States. In 2006, a Scripps Howard poll of 1,010 Americans found 36 percent thought it somewhat or very likely that U.S. officials either participated in the attacks or took no action to stop them.

Those who say the attacks might have been an “inside job” usually share antipathy toward the U.S. government, and often a maverick sensibility. Besides Ahmadinejad, high-profile doubters include Cuba’s Fidel Castro and Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez. Former Minnesota governor and pro wrestler Jesse Ventura has questioned the official account. Conspiracy theorists have heckled former President Bill Clinton and other prominent Americans during speeches.

Controversy over U.S. actions and policies, including the widely discredited assertions that Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction, reinforced the perceptions of conspiracy theorists. Iranians dug deeper into history, recalling the U.S.-backed coup in their country in 1953.

“Initially, I was doubtful about the conspiracy theories. But after seeing the events in later years, I don’t have any doubt that it was their own operation to find a pretext to hit Muslim countries,” said Shaikh Mushtaq Ahmed, a 58-year-old operations manager in a bank in Pakistan. “It’s not a strange thing that they staged something like this in their own country to achieve a big objective.”

In March, an editorial in The Washington Post harshly criticized Yukihisa Fujita, a lawmaker with the ruling Democratic Party of Japan, for saying in an interview that some of the Sept. 11 hijackers were alive and that shadowy forces with advance information about the plot played the stock market for profit. Fujita said the article contained factual errors.

The record shows that al-Qaida agents on a suicide mission hijacked four American passenger planes and crashed them into the World Trade Center towers, the Pentagon, and a field in Pennsylvania, killing nearly 3,000 people. The evidence is immense: witness accounts, audio recordings, video and photographic documentation, exhaustive investigations and claims of responsibility by al-Qaida.

Yet every fact and official assertion only feeds into alternative views that become amplified on the Internet, some tinged with anti-Semitism because of the close U.S.-Israeli alliance. They theorize that a knowing U.S. government stood by as the plot unfolded, or that controlled demolitions destroyed the Twin Towers, and the Pentagon was hit by a missile.

“All this, of course, would require hundreds if not thousands of people to be in on the plot. It speaks volumes for the determination to believe something,” said David Aaronovitch, the British author of “Voodoo Histories: the role of Conspiracy Theory in Modern History.”

“This kind of theory really does have a big impact in the Middle East,” he said. “It gets in the way of thinking seriously about the problems in the area and what should be done.”

A U.S. State Department website devotes space to debunking conspiracy theories about Sept. 11, in the apparent belief that the allegations must be addressed forcefully rather than dismissed out of hand as the ruminations of a fringe group.

“Conspiracy theories exist in the realm of myth, where imaginations run wild, fears trump facts, and evidence is ignored. As a superpower, the United States is often cast as a villain in these dramas,” the site says.

Tod Fletcher of Petaluma, California, has worked as an assistant to David Ray Griffin, a retired theology professor, on books that question the Sept. 11 record. He was cautious about the Iranian president’s comments about conspiracy theories, suggesting Ahmadinejad may have been politically motivated by his enmity with the U.S. government.

“It seems like it’s the sort of thing that could lead to further vilification of people who criticize the official account here in the United States,” Fletcher said.

Sitting With Ahmadinejad « Liveshots

>
September 25, 2010 – 10:33 PM | by: Eric Shawn
“A feisty interview,” is what the Associated Press called it.

Boy, was it ever.

Sitting down with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was a provocative, if not unsettling, experience.

At one point he accused me of judging him, and asked if I was representing the U.S. government AND the United Nations Security Council.

And he asserted “it is true you are backed by the Defense Department of the United States.”

I am?

“You are speaking on the part of the U.S. government,” he said.

“No sir,” I answered. “I am a journalist. I am an independent, objective journalist.”

“But right now you said that the U.S. government has condemned Iran, and that the U.N. Security Council has, and do you represent them?”

“No I do not,” I shot back. “I am representing fact.”

I asked him about his controversial comments about 9/11, in which he claimed that most people believe that the American government was actually behind the terrorist attacks. I asked how he could say such “an insane and nutty thing” and insult millions of Americans. Using words like “insane” and “nutty” during an interview is not my typical style. Then again, this was hardly a garden variety interview. And Ahmadinejad certainly has never hesitated to lob the most potentially insulting and incendiary accusations towards our country and head of state. I asked what proof he had for such a claim, and pointed out that Usama Bin Laden and Al Qaeda have publicly taken credit for the attacks. He said he was insulted — ironic, given his own comments — and explained that he was not giving his own opinion, but merely exploring some of the theories that have been raised about 9/11.

“I did not give an opinion of my own,” he said. “I actually suggested that a fact- finding group, a mission be formed to delve into the truth. Do you think that the entire world has to accept what the U.S. government tells them?”

President Ahmadinejad again denied that Iran is trying to develop a nuclear bomb, and I asked why anyone should believe him considering the fact that Iran is violating four United Nations Security Council resolutions.

“We do not insist that you should believe us,” he said. “We’ve never said that you should. You are free not to believe us. But why would you insist on exposing your view on us with resolutions, with force?”

He said he would not meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. “Why should I meet him?” he asked. And he denied Iran supports terrorism, saying “from the day American troops and the allied troops entered Iraq and Afghanistan, terrorists have increased one-hundred fold…we are victims of terrorism.”

He often answered questions with questions, and didn’t want to be interrupted, as I repeatedly tried to clarify and challenge some of his assertions. He accused me “of almost arguing” with him. It’s hard not to “almost argue” with someone who looks you straight in the eye and suggests that your government is behind the killing of thousands of its own people. It’s hard not to “almost argue” with someone who would represent himself as a purveyor of peace, even as his regime continually defies Security Council resolutions regarding its disputed nuclear program and condones the stoning of its own people. It’s hard not to “almost argue” with someone who has questioned the Holocaust and has called for wiping Israel off the map.

And at the end of the day, he insists that his message to the “good people of America” is one of peace and good will….. a message, delivered, as all his statements seems to be, with a smile.

The ‘911 Conspiracy Theories’ origin: Iranian backed Arab-Muslim Terrpr Group: Hezbollah – First to come up with a vile theroy on Sep. 17, 2001

9/11 Conspiracy Theories Take Root in Arab/Muslim World Sep 8, 2006

…it was Hezbollah’s television station al-Manar, six days after 9/11, that “reported” that 4,000 Israelis employed at the World Trade Center did not show up for work that day because they were told in advance of the attacks…. And there are plenty of people, for a variety of reasons, who are ready to buy into such a theory — some because they don’t like Israel; some because they don’t like America; some because the preaching of radical Islamic mullahs has brought anti-Semitism into the mosque; some because it is easier to blame the Jew than face up to the challenge of terrorist versions of Islam.

The 9/11 conspiracy theory tells a lot about how these things work. It is exactly because the charge is so absurd and shown to be false that it has such appeal. Who could think that Israel would commit such a heinous act against its main ally in the world? The deviousness and cunning that underlies this perspective is what makes it so alluring. The evil that explains it has no bounds. All, it is said, is done to draw the United States into a war against Islam to serve Zionist ends…

… However, where 9/11 conspiracy theorists cross the line into … Let’s bring this down to earth with an illustration: Have you ever wondered why so much of the Arab-Muslim world eagerly believes the wildest, most laughably absurd conspiracy theories?

Right now, for instance, Hezbollah’s Al-Manar TV is broadcasting with a straight face the claim that “Zionist squads specializing in car bombs” are terrorizing Iraq. Meanwhile, Hezbollah’s leader, Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah, insists that all the bombings of Christian churches in Iraq have been the work of the CIA and Mossad.

Al-Manar’s former programming director, Sheikh Nasir al-Akhdar, has said that the station’s goals are to “wage psychological warfare” and “promote the Islamic resistance.” He has further explained that “the ‘war’ with the Zionist enemy continues.
[…]
Al-Manar broadcasts Hezbollah’s messages to an estimated daily audience of 10-15 million viewers. During the Muslim holy month of Ramadan in 2003, Al-Manar aired Ash-Shatat (“the Diaspora”), a 30-part series produced in Syria and based on the anti-Semitic literature the “Protocols of the Elders of Zion.”

Al-Manar also appears to be the source of the conspiracy theory that claimed that 4,000 Israelis were absent from their jobs at the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001, implying that Israel was responsible for the terrorist attacks of that day. In addition to broadcasting the conspiracy, Al-Manar also posted the story on its Web site, which enables viewers to watch live streaming video of the network. The September 11 conspiracy story was later picked up by extremists around the world.

Al-Manar often airs interviews and speeches, given by Hezbollah leaders, that incite violence. In several addresses aired during a Shi’i festival in February 2006, for example, Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah condemned a Danish newspaper that published cartoons depicting the Prophet Muhammad. Nasrallah urged European parliaments to “draft laws that ban newspapers from insulting the Prophet” and warned, “Today we are protesting…but we are ready to shed our blood.”

On March 24, 2008, Al-Manar broadcasted a speech by Nasrallah to mark the end of the 40-day mourning period for Imad Mughniyah, a Hezbollah military commander killed the previous month. In his speech, Nasrallah stated that “The Zionist entity can be wiped out of existence,” warned of “Zionist-American propaganda” and spoke about the “bloody war of consciousness” in which Israel, helped by some Arabs and Europeans, has “infiltrated” the media. Nasrallah also stated that “Mughniyah will remain the pillar for the resistance in his martyrdom as he was the pillar of the resistance during his life, his jihad and his work. We…will continue to follow his path.”

The U.S. State Department designated Al-Manar as a terrorist entity and added the satellite station to the Terrorism Exclusion List in December 2004. Two years later, the U.S. Treasury Department added Al-Manar, along with its parent company, the Lebanese Media Group, to its Specially Designated Global Terrorist List, which resulted in economic sanctions against the station and made it illegal for any U.S. persons to engage in financial transactions with it. In June 2009, Javed Iqbal and Saleh Elahwal were sentenced in a Manhattan federal court to nearly six years in prison and 17 months in prison, respectively, for distributing broadcasts of Al-Manar in New York and providing material support to Hezbollah.

Several European countries, including France, Spain, Germany and the Netherlands, as well as Australia, have also taken measures to block Al-Manar. In March 2005, the broadcasting regulators in the European Union agreed to ban satellite broadcasting of Al-Manar on the basis that the channel carried racist material and incitement. As a result, several satellite service providers, most of them European, dropped Al-Manar, making it unavailable in North and South America, Asia and Australia. Al-Manar, is, however, still available in Europe through Arab satellite companies and its Web site offers English, French and Spanish translations of its material.

Hezbollah’s Nazi roots [National Post]

This is the first Middle East war in which the main threat to Israel comes, not from secular Arab nationalism, but from Islamism.

Both Hezbollah and Hamas draw their main inspiration, armaments and funding from Islamist sources, ranging from the Sunni ideologues of the Muslim Brotherhood to the Shiite demagogues of Iran. What unites them all is a fanatical dedication to the destruction of Israel.

Sounding like a modern-day Hitler, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad this week repeated his call for the “elimination” of Israel, home to six million Jews. Hezbollah, Iran’s proxy army in Lebanon, shares that objective. Its leader, Hassan Nasrallah, has urged the world’s Jews to collect in Israel in order to facilitate the task of exterminating them…

Hezbollah’s Nazi salute evokes memories of Hitler’s support for Arab agitators such as the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem and the leaders of a pro-Nazi coup in Iraq. The Nazi legacy also manifests itself in Holocaust denial or revisionism, a Middle Eastern obsession that unites the most extreme Islamists, including Iran’s president, with “moderate” secularists such as Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas..

Al-qaeda accuses Iran, Hezbollah for spreading lying “theories” for its “Shiite” political goals

Al-Qaida: Hezbollah started rumor that Israel was behind 9/11 …Apr 23, 2008 …

By The Associated Press
Osama bin Laden’s deputy Al-Zawahri accused Hezbollah’s Al-Manar television yesterday of starting a conspiracy theory that Israel was behind the 2001 suicide airplane attack against the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.

“The purpose of this lie is clear – [to suggest] there are no heroes among the Sunnis who can hurt America as no else did in history. Iranian media snapped up this lie and repeated it,” he said in a tape posted on an Islamic Web site.

Al Qaida Number 2: Iran Propagated 9/11 Conspiracy Theory [HuffingtonPost]

MAGGIE MICHAEL | April 22, 2008 11:24 AM EST

CAIRO, Egypt — Osama bin Laden’s chief deputy in an audiotape Tuesday accused Shiite Iran of trying to discredit the Sunni al-Qaida terror network by spreading the conspiracy theory that Israel was behind the Sept. 11 attacks.

The comments reflected al-Qaida’s No. 2 leader Ayman al-Zawahri’s increasing criticism of Iran. Al-Zawahri has accused Iran in recent messages of seeking to extend its power in the Middle East, particularly in Iraq and through its Hezbollah allies in Lebanon.

The authenticity of the two-hour audio recording posted on an Islamic Web site could not be independently confirmed. But the voice sounded like past audiotapes from the terror leader, and the posting where it was found bore the logo of Al-Sahab, al-Qaida’s official media arm.

It was the second of two messages answering questions that were posted to Islamic militant Web sites earlier this year.

One of the questioners asked about the theory that has circulated in the Middle East and elsewhere that Israel was behind the 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.

Al-Zawahri accused Hezbollah’s Al-Manar television of starting the rumor.

“The purpose of this lie is clear _ (to suggest) that there are no heroes among the Sunnis who can hurt America as no else did in history. Iranian media snapped up this lie and repeated it,” he said.

“Iran’s aim here is also clear to cover up its involvement with America in invading the homes of Muslims in Afghanistan and Iraq,” he said.

Iran cooperated with the United States in the 2001 U.S. assault on Afghanistan that toppled al-Qaida’s allies, the Taliban.

Answering questions about Iraq in Tuesday’s tape, al-Zawahri said the insurgent umbrella group led by al-Qaida, called the Islamic State of Iraq, is “the primary force opposing the Crusaders and challenging Iranian ambitions” in Iraq, he said, referring to the Americans.

As he often does in his messages, al-Zawahri denounced the “Crusader invasion” of Iraq, but in Tuesday’s tape he paired it with a mention of “Iranian complicity” or “Iranian agents.”

In the latest tape, al-Zawahri was also asked if the terror group had further plans to attack Western countries that participated in the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq and subsequent war.

“My answer is: Yes! We think that any country that has joined aggression on Muslims must be deterred,” he replied.

In response to a question signed by the Japanese news agency Kyodo asking if Japan remains a target because it once had troops in Iraq, al-Zawahri said “Japan provided help under the banner of the crusader coalition … therefore it participated in the Crusader campaign against the lands of Islam.”

Japan deployed non-combat troops to southern Iraq in 2003 to carry out reconstruction work. It withdrew its troops from Iraq in 2006 and now conducts airlifts to help supply U.S.-led forces in that country.

Al-Zawahri spoke on a wide range of issues, even global warming, which he said reflected “how criminal, brutal and greedy the Western Crusader world is, with America at the top.”

He predicted that global warming would “make the world more sympathetic to and understanding of the Muslims’ jihad against the aggressor America.”

Asked if there are any women in al-Qaida, the terror leader answered simply: “No.” In a follow-up answer, he said: “There are no women in al-Qaida jihadi group, but the women of the mujahedeen are playing a heroic role in taking care of their houses and sons.”

In several parts of Tuesday’s audio message, Al-Zawahri claimed that the Taliban took over 95 percent of Afghanistan and is sweeping Pakistan as well.

“The Crusaders and their agents in Pakistan and Afghanistan are starting to fall,” he said.

In another answer Tuesday, al-Zawahri said it was against Islamic religious law for any Muslim to live permanently in a Western country because in doing so they would “have permanent stay there under the laws of the infidels.”

Al-Qaida’s media arm, Al-Sahab, announced in December that al-Zawahri would take questions from the public posted on Islamic militant Web sites and would respond “as soon as possible.” Queries were submitted on the main Islamist Web site until the cutoff date of Jan. 16.

This announcement is noteworthy because it refers to the traded Hezbollah terrorists and other assorted criminals as “heroes.” Right: they are members of a group deemed a “Foreign Terrorist Organization” by the U.S. government and proscribed by U.S. law – but ADC calls them “heroes.” I guess it’s clear on which side ADC stands in the war on terror.

Mixed Messages from the Arab American Anti-Discrimination Committee
by IPT News – Nov 3, 2010 at 12:53 pm

The Arab American Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC), the “largest Arab-American grassroots civil rights organization in the United States,” is well known for defending the rights of people of Arab descent…

On October 22, the ADC’s Committee of Western New York held an event commemorating the Sabra and Shatilla massacres, entitled “Memory Lives, Resistance Persists.” Resistance, a word that ADC has used interchangeably for terrorism in reports about the Middle East conflict, was celebrated on the flyer. A popular Palestinian cartoon character, Handala, is seen writing the Arabic words, “Revolution until victory.”
In addition, the ADC recently decided to commemorate the career of Helen Thomas, a Lebanese American journalist whose career was ended abruptly in June over an anti-Semitic tirade…

FRONTLINE/WORLD . ISRAEL/PALESTINIAN TERRITORIES – In the Line of Fire, March, 2003

On the Palestinian side, abuses against the press tend to be a function of events on the ground. Palestinian security forces have confiscated film from photographers and threatened reporters who have covered stories deemed sensitive. So, too, have Palestinian militants and demonstrators. In a highly publicized incident in 2001, Palestinian security forces harassed and prevented several journalists from covering demonstrations of Palestinians in the West Bank city of Nablus who were celebrating the attacks on New York City and Washington, D.C. In another incident in 2001, a PNA official issued a veiled threat to an Associated Press cameraman who had filmed Palestinians in the West Bank town of Nablus celebrating the September 11 attacks. The official said that the journalist’s safety could not be guaranteed if the footage were aired.

Palestinians celebrate [Daily Star, Sep. 12, 2001]

‘Support to our intifada’

Mohammed Zaatari

Daily Star correspondent
Palestinian refugees spilled into the streets of their shantytowns in Lebanon to rejoice at the carnage in New York and Washington on Tuesday, defying their own leadership’s firm condemnation of the apparent terrorist strikes.

Refugees toured the Ain al-Hilweh camp near Sidon, firing their rifles in the air in a noisy display of glee.

“Whoever protects terror should know how to protect himself,” one elderly man said.

Women ululated and bagpipers played patriotic songs as the refugees converged on the vegetable market, the largest square in the camp.
Shopowners handed out sweets as small television sets aired time and again images of the World Trade Center’s twin towers on fire and tumbling down after the attacks.

The cheering grew louder when the television spots shifted to the American capital to show a section of the Pentagon on fire after it had been hit by a third aircraft.

The scenes were similar in the camps of Rashidieh, near Tyre; Bourj al-Barajneh in Beirut; and in the North’s Nahr al-Bared, where Palestinian frustration with American support for Israel during the latest violence has been on the rise.

“What happened to America today vindicates the Palestinians and all those suffering the injustice this big power has been imposing on the world,” said Ain al-Hilweh’s Ahmad Hussein, who is in his late teens.

Fatima Khalil said: “It’s like an earthquake that proves that justice will ultimately triumph. This lends support to our intifada.”

Issam Mohammed, in his early teens, said that he wanted to see President Bush “lying in the basement somewhere, fearful for his life, to understand what the Palestinians are going through day after day.”
Nearby young men and women sang together: “Where to? To Ramallah. Where to?
To Ramallah.”

Rejoicing in the streets of Jenin – Middle East – Salon.com

Rejoicing in the streets of Jenin

While many Palestinians celebrate the attack on the U.S., Yasser Arafat denounces it as “unacceptable” and Israelis mourn.
By Flore de Préneuf JENIN, West Bank — In Jenin, they know a good terrorist attack when they hear about it.

The walls of people’s homes here are covered with posters glorifying Islamic terrorists and Palestinian “martyrs.” The area, in the northern West Bank, has produced more suicide bombers than any other Palestinian town since the beginning of the intifada nearly a year ago. Most recently Jenin operatives lent a hand to the Israeli Arab kamikaze who killed three Israelis and wounded dozens of others at a train station Sunday. Israeli tanks moved in Monday night to seal off the area in an effort to stop local terrorists from carrying out further attacks on Israel.

But Palestinian militants have never achieved terror of the magnitude seen today in the United States.

When young armed Palestinians patrolling the streets of a refugee camp in Jenin heard the news from New York and Washington, they chuckled with glee. One of them thanked God for his mighty revenge against the United States, Israel’s ally and main weapons supplier.

Elsewhere in the West Bank and in Gaza, thousands of Palestinians applauded the devastating blows, cheering openly in the streets and distributing celebratory candy to passersby. Some shouted that they hoped Tel Aviv would be next or vowed to complete what they believe Osama bin Laden has started.

Indeed, people here think Osama bin Laden is a more likely suspect for the attacks than Palestinian groups. The Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine, the Damascus-based Marxist organization that initially claimed and then rejected responsibility for the terrorist attacks, has only a tiny following among Palestinians and has little “street credibility.” Of course, there is still no proof that any figure from the Arab world has anything to do with the attack — Oklahoma City, too, was first blamed on Muslim forces — but that didn’t dampen the celebration here.

The loud rejoicing, however, was far from universal. Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat expressed his condolences to President Bush and condemned the crime as “dangerous and unacceptable.” Palestinian legislator and spokeswoman for the Arab League Hanan Ashrawi called it “a horrible act of absolute immorality, viciousness and evil.”

Israelis, for their part, greeted the news with angst and disbelief as if the terror attack had happened on their soil. Many Jews have relatives in the United States. But beyond the family link, there’s a very strong identification with the victims of terrorism, given Israel’s long and tragic experience with suicide bombers, booby-trapped cars and deadly ambushes.

Israelis interviewed on national television also expressed the hope that America would “finally understand” and stop condemning Israel for the protective and retaliatory measures it has taken over the past year in its fight against Palestinian activism. Many hoped that the bond between Israel and the U.S. against evil (widely assumed to be Islamic) will be stronger now that the strikes have brought home the price of fanaticism.

In material terms, Israel’s security was also directly affected by the assaults on New York and Washington. Israel closed its air space to flights from abroad, put its air force on high alert and evacuated its embassy and consulates in the United States. Prime Minister Ariel Sharon has offered to send rescue teams to the United States.

The Palestinian leadership even celebrated –the 911 attack– in 2007

Palestinian Authority celebrates 9/11
Official paper’s cartoons glorify bin Laden, mock U.S. suffering
Posted: September 18, 2007
1:00 am Eastern

On the sixth anniversary of 9/11, the U.S.-backed Palestinian Authority continued its tradition of celebrating the attacks by publishing cartoons in its official daily that glorify Osama Bin Laden and mock American suffering.

Palestinian Media Watch reported a cartoon in Al Hayat Al Jadida – owned by the PA and controlled by the office of President Mahmoud Abbas – showed the al-Qaida leader making the “V” for victory sign with two fingers in the shape of the burning Twin Towers.

The only text on the cartoon is “Exclusive to Al Hayat Al Jadida,” which means it was prepared specifically for the official PA daily, notes PMW.

The Israeli media monitor says the PA’s celebration of 9/11 goes back to the day of the attacks in 2001 when the world was shocked by televised scenes of Palestinians rejoicing in the streets.

A December 2005 poll by the Norwegian Institute for Applied International Studies found 65 percent of Palestinians supported al-Qaida actions in the U.S. and Europe.

Earlier this year, PMW said, a former minister from Abbas’ Fatah party, Abu Ali Shahin, wished al-Qaida success against the U.S. and in its targeting of President Bush.

The Fatah leader said in an interview on official PA TV Jan. 1: “Oh [al-Qaida] brother, leave us and focus on your business. You have Bush! Do to Bush what you want, and we wish you success with Bush, even more. I, Abu Ali Shahin, wish you success with Bush… We are fighting the Americans and hate the Americans more than you!”

PMW pointed out Washington. continues to support politically and financially PA institutions and the PA itself, while ignoring promotion of hatred toward the U.S.

Bloody Sunday: Hezbollah Causes Deaths of 60 women and Children Using Residence as Human Shield

“Why are they killing us? What have we done?” >asked Khalil Shalhoub as he witnessed his brother’s remains being removed from the building in Qana, Lebanon after Israeli aircraft bombed the building suspected to be shielding rocket launchers directed at Israel. 120 such rockets were fired at Israel today.

Fox News reports that at least 56 were killed in the attack, mostly women and children.

It’s a sad and tragic event which should never have happened. And it’s one that is likely to fit into the plans of those who wish to condemn Israel and push for a ceasefire that preserves Hezbollah’s military capacity. The same military capability which violates every previous agreement intended to bring peace to the troubled region.

Ever since the crisis began, Mike’s America has pointed out how Hezbollah has used the civilian population and U.N. peacekeepers as human shields. They deliberately choose to attack from these positions and then are first to raise the cry of “massacre” or “war crime” when unintended deaths occur. We’ve reported the statement from U.N. Humanitarian Chief Egeland who denounced Hezbollah for “this cowardly blending … among women and children…I heard they were proud because they lost very few fighters and that it was the civilians bearing the brunt of this. I don’t think anyone should be proud of having many more children and women dead than armed men.”

Video Evidence Of Hezbollah Rockets Shielded by Civilian Residences

If you haven’t seen the video from the Israeli Defense Forces showing the launching of rockets directly behind a large building in the area near Qana, it is here. It’s an older video and apparently not the building which was struck today, but a nearby site which does illustrate how Hezbollah launches rockets from behind a large building to avoid detection.

The chart at right illustrates the course of rockets fired from Qana. The Israeli Defense Forces also has a further video showing how Hezbollah hides rockets in civilian targets.

More Questions: No Fighters Killed in Qana?
Reporters at the site of this tragedy report that it took many hours for them to reach the scene. They were not given any opportunity to investigate, photograph or videotape obvious military targets or dead Hezbollah fighters.

Prior to the strike in Qana, Israel took steps to warn the civilian population that strikes in this area were likely and warned them to leave. This is the same precaution they followed prior to their incursions into both Southern Lebanon and Gaza. These efforts include dropping of leaflets, phone calls to residences in affected areas and loudspeakers in some cases. Vital Perspective posted a copy of one of the leaflets warning that Israeli strikes were imminent.

From reports at the scene, survivors of the Qana attack complained that they were unable to leave, that the roads were “blocked.” Yet reporters had no trouble getting to and from the scene.

More Questions

Unfortunately, the resources of the Israeli Defense Forces are more focused on fighting and winning on the ground in Lebanon and Gaza. But the propaganda war is being lost as the world sees images of dead children and only later considers the cause.

As we wait for more information, one thing is clear: this tragedy would not have occurred if Hezbollah has been disarmed. Furthermore, this tragedy would not have happened if Iran and Syria had not provided Hezbollah with the weapons, training and funding to attack Israel. Finally, none of this would be happening if the world demanded the same level of accountability and respect for innocent civilians from Hezbollah that they require of Israel.

Answering Khalil Shalhoub’s question: “Why are they killing us? What have we done?” I would say: You have allowed Hezbollah to rearm and attack Israel. If you valued peace more than war, you would not have done so.

And Khalil: Mike’s America readers may recall another “Bloody Sunday” 23 years ago when Hezbollah killed 241 U.S. Marines sent to Lebanon as peacekeepers. Isn’t it past time you held Hezbollah accountable for the “cycle of violence?” Blaming everyone else for your problem hasn’t worked too well has it?

Update: The research department at Flopping Aces has found a number of other links to the videos mentioned above and more. A number of these are provided by Vital Perspective, a collection of which can be found at You Tube.

Vital Perspective also reminds us that the deliberate placement of weaponry in a civilian area is a violation of the Geneva Conventions. Will we now hear all the bleeding heart lefties who moan about our benevolent treatment of homocidal terrorists at Guantanamo now take up the call about war crimes by Hezbollah? Don’t hold your breath!

And just for the record, Flopping Aces linked to this video at the end of which you can clearly see ambulances with UN markings being used to transport Hamas terrorists in Gaza away from the fighting.

And some people say that Israel is committing “war crimes”?

___

Islamists to Zionists: ‘We’ll make SURE our kids die, so we can murder yours!’

Israel’s war of not hitting Arab civilians VS Islamists FOR it.

Since the bluff of Islamists supposedly having “issue” just keeps being exploded in their faces with each “one way” concession by the Zionists to the “never sattisfied” Arabs, more so when the Zionists gave Gaza land to the “Palestinians” and the “Palestinians” immediately responded only to continue their crimes with even less shame, overwhelmingly gave the region and to the world the gift of: electing officially the terrorists of Hamas to be their leaders.

They never can justify their killing of civilians, intentionally, how do they combat with this most honest most human and moral basic question ever?

So they came up with a plan, how to make sure their kids die, Hamas actually masterminded it, to use own kids as human shields, either firing with machine guns behind the “little stones throwers”, or firing from among their families.

But great humane Israel (Israel VS Evil), can’t stomach even collateral damage, so they try always to warn the residents of an operation coming so that they should evacuate.

That is of course extremely costly, since such warnings, whether in Gaza or in Lebanon are chasing the terrorists away as well, but beautiful Israel is willing to sacrifice so much to spare Arab children that their adults hate so much but love for them to be killed on the altar of “public relation” and that “victim-hood” so sacred for the dirty Islamists.

If you want to see the deeper picture, (not only the true vs. exaggerated fake photos, just exposed on Reuters, etc. but) the real picture of Israel VS. Islamists.

Israel fights so mighty hard to AVOID civilian casualties on EITHER side, Islamists fight for the GREATER MASSACRES of CIVILIANS even on Arab Muslim side, since it serves their purpose of: “you see? Zionists are killing civilians too, they are not much better”, so they can go ahead with what they always want, to massacre all non Muslims, especially the Israelis.

Death and destruction are Hezbollah’s goals
By Andrea Levin | August 8, 2006
SOMETIMES basic facts get blurred in a fierce, image-filled conflict such as the one spawned by Hezbollah’s July 12 cross-border attack in which Israeli soldiers were killed and others kidnapped while a rain of rockets descended on homes and fields. An unprovoked act of war, this Hezbollah assault followed 19 others since May 2000, when Israel pulled out from a security zone in southern Lebanon that had been created to protect against earlier terrorist incursions. In response to those first 19 incidents, Israel had essentially held its fire.
What does Hezbollah, with some 10,000 katyushas and other long-range missiles, really want? Some say Israel’s pullout from south Lebanon was incomplete (though fully certified as complete by the United Nations) and that handing over Shebaa Farms would quiet the Iranian-funded Jihadist group. But as a New Yorker story noted, even Hezbollah spokesman Hassan Ezzeddin admitted: “If they go from Shebaa, we will not stop fighting them. Our goal is to liberate the 1948 borders of Palestine.” What he means, of course, is the destruction of Israel.
Genocide seems to be the goal. This too may be lost when media focus centers on Israel’s retaliation for aggression and its army’s advance against Hezbollah fighters dug deep into the Lebanese hills. But listen to the words of the group’s leaders and consider the relentless message of Al-Manar, the organization’s richly funded satellite television network that reaches tens of millions around the world and is designated a terrorist entity by the US State Department.
Hezbollah head Hassan Nasrallah describes being asked whether “the destruction of Israel and the liberation of Palestine and Jerusalem were Hezbollah’s goal,” and replying: “That is the principal objective of Hezbollah.” He terms Israel “an illegal state; it is a cancerous entity and the root of all the crises and wars. . .”
On Al-Manar television, Jews are termed pigs and monkeys and the Holocaust is denied. Participants in a network-sponsored symposium urge that Israel “be completely wiped out” and “just like Hitler fought the Jews” the “great Islamic nation of Jihad” should “fight the Jews and burn them.”
In May, Nasrallah appeared on the network to explain that “our nation’s willingness to sacrifice their blood, souls, children, fathers, and families” is an advantage over the Jews “who guard their lives.” (All translations by the Middle East Media Research Institute.)
This blunt admission too should be remembered in the rush of reports; for there is, indeed, a crucial difference in valuing human life, whether Israeli or Arab. The innocent Lebanese behind whom Hezbollah gunmen wantonly shelter, knowingly inviting Israel’s defensive return volley, have surely been sacrificed. And not by their own choice. One news report told of Hezbollah murdering a Lebanese man who sought to flee the fighting and escape being used as a human shield. Lebanese citizens, especially Christians, speak of rage at Iran and Syria for the ruin of their country caused by Hezbollah’s proxy militia and of helplessness at the hands of the armed thugs.
Many in the Lebanese Christian diaspora, beyond the reach of Hezbollah intimidation, speak out even more forcefully against turning Lebanon into a Shia theocracy emulating Iran.
Israel has, in fact, tried to `”guard” the lives of Lebanese civilians, dropping warning leaflets and announcing ahead its intention to target missile launchers, explosives, and gunmen. In contrast, Hezbollah fills its katyushas with lethal ball bearings to spread death and suffering as far and wide as possible
.
A Boston native, David Lalchuck, was killed just days ago by this weapon as he rushed to safety from tending a kibbutz orchard. He was only the latest American to die at the hands of Hezbollah. Two-hundred-and-forty-one were killed in 1983 by a Hezbollah truck bomb at the US Marine barracks in Beirut. The Marines were part of a peace-keeping force. Until 9/11, Hezbollah had kidnapped, hijacked, tortured, and murdered more Americans than any other terrorist group.
The Great Satan and the Little Satan — America and Israel — are the obsession of Hezbollah, Iran, Al Qaeda, and other Islamic fascists. Closing our eyes to their brutality only assures more innocent lives will be lost before the threat is overcome.

Blame the Terrorists, Not Israel!
THE HEZBOLLAH and Hamas provocations against Israel once again demonstrate how terrorists can exploit human rights and the media in their attacks on democracies. By hiding behind their own civilians, the Islamic radicals issue a challenge to democracies: Either violate your own morality by coming after us and inevitably killing some innocent civilians, or maintain your morality and leave us with a free hand to target your innocent civilians. This challenge presents democracies such as Israel with a lose-lose option and terrorists with a win-win option.

“U.S. Officials: Hezbollah Training Iraqi Shiite Militia Group“ Tuesday, November 28, 2006
Hezbollah, the Iranian-backed group in Lebanon that warred with Israel this summer, has been training militant Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr’s militia both inside Iraq and in Lebanon, senior White House and intelligence officials confirmed Tuesday. The confirmation came after the New York Times reported that a senior intelligence official said that some 1,000 to 2,000 Shiite fighters had been trained in Lebanon by Hezbollah, which also is backed by Syria. Click here to view the New York Times article. President Bush, who is in Europe to attend a NATO summit, expressed concern Tuesday that Iran and Syria are both attempting to destabilize Iraq. “The Iranians and the Syrians should help — not destabilize — this young democracy,” Bush said. Bush continued to express his administration’s reluctance to talk with Iran and Syria on the grounds that the two nations have been unhelpful in efforts to achieve Middle East peace.

…The Return of a Superterrorist (Most Dangerous Besides Osama = MUGNIYAH)

Feb. 5, 2007 issue – Before Osama bin Laden, there was Imad Mughniyeh. The Lebanese terrorist from Hizbullah was considered the most dangerous in the world. Now the White House worries that he’s back, after years of lying low. Four serving U.S. intel and counterterrorism officials, anonymous when discussing sensitive material, said Mughniyeh is prominent in recent reporting from the field about Hizbullah activity. Bruce Riedel, a veteran Mideast expert recently retired from the CIA, told NEWSWEEK there is “no question he is heavily involved in [formulating] terrorist contingency plans in case of a U.S.-Iran confrontation.”
Mughniyeh has the résumé to be a potent threat. He was the alleged organizer of a series of devastating bombings and kidnappings against U.S. targets in Lebanon during the 1980s, including two bombings of the U.S. Embassy in Beirut. But Hizbullah later made a strategic decision to abandon attacks on American targets. Even now, U.S. intel officials stress that they don’t believe Hizbullah will actually hit U.S. interests unless Washington strikes first—against either the movement or its key patron, Tehran.
So what is Mughniyeh up to? Two of the U.S. officials interviewed by NEWSWEEK said field reports indicate that he travels between Beirut, Damascus and Tehran. One official said that some reports also suggest he has visited Baghdad. (Hizbullah has allegedly been involved in training the Mahdi Army militia of Moqtada al-Sadr.) (EXCERPT…) read more at:

Arab women singers complicit in rape, says Amnesty report
[July 2004]
While African women in Darfur were being raped by the Janjaweed militiamen, Arab women stood nearby and sang for joy, according to an Amnesty International …

During an attack on the village of Disa in June last year, Arab women accompanied the attackers and sang songs praising the government and scorning the black villagers.

According to an African chief quoted in the report, the singers said: “The blood of the blacks runs like water, we take their goods and we chase them from our area and our cattle will be in their land. The power of [Sudanese president Omer Hassan] al-Bashir belongs to the Arabs and we will kill you until the end, you blacks, we have killed your God.”

The chief said that the Arab women also racially insulted women from the village: “You are gorillas, you are black, and you are badly dressed.”

The Janjaweed have abducted women for use as sex slaves, in some cases breaking their limbs to prevent them escaping, as well as carrying out rapes in their home villages, the report said.

United Nations: Sudan carried out mass-rapes in Darfur [March 20, 2008]

A displaced woman from Darfur, one of an estimated 2.3 million affected by the conflict

The United Nations today accused the Sudanese government of being directly involved in the mass-rape of girls and women in the crisis-hit region of Darfur — a damning indictment of the part played by the country’s Islamist dictatorship in the humanitarian catastrophe.

Locking up Sudan’s Al-Bashir could let in some light into war-torn Darfur … Al Bashir launched his own version of terrorism in 1989 when his government promulgated the ‘Popular Defence Forces Law’ which legalised paramilitary training to militias to execute a “jihad against Christian influence in the South”. […]
Under this umbrella fundamentalist Islamic revivalism, the legitimate claims of the peoples of Darfur for an end to their economic backwardness and marginalisation would be subverted through the “jihad”. […]
Al Bashir was urgently accused of committing “genocide” in Darfur. Sudan’s tragedy has been the pathological cruelties of successive leaders (from Jaffar al Nimeiry, Sadiq al Mahdi to Al Bashir), against citizens of their country. Sudanese intellectuals, like Deng and Prof Ibrahim, have seen Arab racism as the curse of Sudan. This terrible virus is claimed to be most virulent in leaders with varying degrees of dark skin and West-African tribal marks—the Janjaweed.

Lebanese Hezbollah Holds Meeting in Support of Sudanese President – Hezbollah pledges support for Omar Al Bashir and the Sudanese Government
Text of report by Lebanese National News Agency website

[LNNA headline: “Hezbollah organizes consultative meeting in support of Sudan and its President Umar al-Bashir”]

A consultative meeting was held this morning at the invitation of Hezbollah. The meeting, which included nationalist parties, Palestinian factions, local figures and organizations, and the charge d’affaires of the Sudanese Embassy at the head of a delegation, was held in support of Sudan and its President Umar Hasan al-Bashir. The meeting was first addressed by Husayn al- Khalil, the political aide to the secretary general of Hezbollah, who said:

“We in Hezbollah are honoured to meet with you today in defence of a national, pan-Arab, and Islamic cause, which is to stand side by side with our brothers in Sudan – leadership and people. This is because this beloved country is facing an ugly conspiracy to undermine its unity, freedom, and independence.”

He added: “The peoples of our region, which is currently in the midst of a historic battle with world arrogance and its dominant forces, are recording the most splendid epics in Lebanon, Palestine, and Iraq, moving the nation from victory to victory and dealing successive blows to the US and Israeli plan. These peoples are now called upon to defend the vanguards of their resistance and liberation movements in the Arab and Islamic worlds. Perhaps, what happened to our kinfolk in Palestine for scores of years and is still happening today and what is currently happening to wounded Iraq, and what is also being planned against brotherly Sudan confirm without the slightest shade of doubt that the process of mutilation and disintegration led by the United States is the core of a hostile plan, which aims controlling the destinies of the nation and its countries, plundering their resources, and enslaving of their peoples.”

He continued: “The deteriorating and weak condition of the official Arab order, which is witnessing daily conflicts between its components and sinking deep in the laps of the US plan, is the one that has made the tools of world crime or what are now called international courts dare to make unprecedented decisions against Arab kings and presidents. If anything, this indicates the humiliation of this ominous official order. The vicious efforts that are being exerted by the United States in the heart of our Arab World aim at changing the real direction of the conflict, split the Arabs into blocs of moderation and extremism and stab at our national crucial issues with Arab hands and portray the Islamic peoples and states such as Iran, which supports us with all its power and capabilities, as a great threat to the Arabs, and exert pressure in order to establish normal and peace alliances with our historic enemy; namely, the Zionist entity; all that constitutes a strong entry of US influence into the heart of our world and society on the political, cultural, and military levels.”

He said: “The unfair and condemned decision which has been made against His Excellency President Umar Hasan al-Bashir and that is aimed at brotherly Sudan – leadership, government, and people, with all their factions, forces, and parties including the Sudanese opposition forces, is aimed at all the noble forces, parties, and liberation movements that oppose the US-Israeli plan. This is in addition to the official regimes. It is also aimed at all the positions of power and opposition in this beloved nation. The painful reality of the official Arab order does not exempt us at all as peoples and liberation movements from assuming our full role in confronting any hostile action against any Arab country and backing its beloved people.

Concluding, he said: “We in Lebanon, the whole of Lebanon, where we went through all experiences in fighting the Zionist occupiers and invaders and where our people made great sacrifices for the liberation of our country and the preservation of our dignity, and who are living these days one of the landmarks of great victory over the Israeli enemy; we who know very well the meaning of aggression, occupation, domination, and foreign interference, are called upon to take a responsible stand by extending the hand of aid to and express our support for our kinfolk and brethren in Sudan – leadership and people – a country, which has often assumed its historic national and Islamic responsibilities.”
