the War of Ideas – need to counter today’s totalitarian ideology, Islamofascism
March 28, 2008Ah! the ‘Wonders of Islam’
September 3, 2007Ah! The ‘WONDERS OF ISLAM’, Knocks you socks off!
Recently there were seven new ’wonders of the
world’ introduced.
Here are at least some ‘Wonders of Islam’ among so many
‘WONDERFUL ISLAM’
1) Muhammad raping (marrying) an “ape”
Since non-Muslims are “apes & pigs” in their teaching, [specifically
Christians are “pigs” & Jews are “apes”] How come Safyia & Reyhana young sexy Jewish girls were “allowed” to be raped / “married” to/by the “prophet”?
2) All in one: Evil smile, denial & threats
Cheering towards thousands of non-Muslims dying, yet denying Islamic massacres on the infidels [such as the 9/11], still threatening more of the
same, all in one breath.
3) Behold the “peace” of Islam
The cult that has the highest credit score for most wars, “conflicts”, massacres, torture, maiming & all crimes against humanity [including oppressing their own people] all over the world, still carries it’s title of “religion of peace”, imagine that.
Does anyone have any idea who?
4) War! Death to the infidels, oh & BTW an “Anti war”
march
What went through your mind seeing the WARRIORS Jihadists’ march & infiltrate into anti-war organized rallies?
5) Whining ‘Palestinian’ parents &
teachers
Don’t you love the whining ‘Palestinian’ Arab Muslims, who act in front of cameras, [not just the edited photos/videos from PALLYWOOD] after all, it’s only their fault for sending it’s kids to be human bombs & human shields by adult terrorists.
6) The “shocked” Arab Muslims
After years of supporting ‘Palestinian’ slaughtering of innocent unarmed civilians & campaign of genocide, suddenly the Arab Muslim “moderate” world is shocked when [some of] it hits home (like bombings in Jordan & in
Lebanon).
7) The ‘Islamic apartheid’ uses that word
The bigoted Arab-Islamic world, where Christians are persecuted, where natives are oppressed by Arabization & Arab racism (especially in Africa), where there are “moderate” places which no Jew is allowed [including ”Palestinian” areas], or places where non Muslims are enslaved, where women are treated like dogs, where people that had the courage
of speaking out against the crimes of it’s leaders are hanged in public, where
any human right issues are shoved & surpressed as “just Judea-Christian
values”, has the audacity to use this term on a beautiful democratic equal
& free for all multi-religious multi-racial little country, who’s only
“crime” is defending it’s babies from Islamic genocide bombers, or to criticize
the west at all.
8] The anti-freedom “freedom fighters”
It’s one thing if an authentic guerilla fighter uses this title, it’s another when it’s by those that fight AGAINST freedom for any human being under it’s current curriculum or under it’s ultimate goal, nightmare ‘plan’ of Islamic oppression & Sharia law on all humanity .
How did the word “freedom” get to these people’s hands?
9) Foreigners fight for “their homeland”in foreign land [or for “freedom”, again]
The Arabs, Muslims from Syria, Jordan,”palestine”, Lebanon & even from the west, joining the “holy pilgrimage” of the killing fields in Iraq are
fighting for their “homeland” [or to “help” their fellow Arab Muslims].
Just like Saudi Osama bin Laden fought in Afgnaistan, Egyptian Yasser Arafat in “palestine”, Jordanian Abu Musab Al Zarqawi in Iraq.
10) The Arab Muslim international Goliath lobby MAFIA complains about ‘lack of power’
It’s those that hold the UN hostage, that have the entire EU wrapped around their little oiled finger, that even influences Washington & all branches of US government, complain about misrepresentation.
11) The reversed Islamic calendar, reversing the dates to fit their
excuses for bloodshed
How does the ‘Islamic Calendar’ “date” the following examples:
* Muslims’ Massacres of Assyrian Christians 1840 – 1860 in Syria & in Lebanon, long before the Middle east conflict.
* Islamic Jihadi genocide in 1915 on Armenian Christians.
* The Islamic genocide on the Greeks 1914-23.
* Islamic Massacre, Genocide of Christian Assyrians 1915-1920.
* Arab Muslim attacks, massacres, ethnic cleansing on Jews in Israel-’Palestine’ in: 1834 Safed, 1886 Petach Tikva, 1920-21 Jerusalem, 1929 Hebron, 1936 Tiberias, 1936 Jaffa, long before the re-establishing of the State of Israel (of 1948).
* The [Mopla] Islamic jihad against all non-Muslims (Hindu and British) 1921 Kerala.
* Massacre & ethnic cleansing by Arab Muslims on Christian Assyrians, indigenous people, 1933 ‘Simele’ Iraq.
* Massacre & ethnic cleansing by Arab Muslims on Jews, 1941
Iraq.
* Arab Muslim leader [Adolf Hitler’s “friend”] the Mufti with Muslim Bosnian troops committing crimes against humanity in the Balkans 1941.
* Arab Muslim attacks on Jews in Israel-’Palestine’ in: the 1950’s 1960’s before the so called “occupation” (of 1967).
* The Al Qaeda plot to bomb London in 2001, two years before the Iraq operation (of 2003) – excuse.
* The Arab Muslim terrorists multiple plots in Spain 2003-2008, AFTER Spain withdrew from Iraq.
12) Blaming the victim & ”fighting for the oppressed”, only Muslims “get” it
I have yet to get a response from an Islamic scholar how blaming the victim (whether terror victims, or any raped women) is coinciding with “fighting for
the oppressed.

The following is the story of Safiyah Bint Huyeiy Ibn Akhtab, the Jewish woman who was captured when Muhammad’s troops attacked Kheibar and brought her to the Prophet as part of his share of the booty. This story, is reported in the Book of Tabaqat and is published also in the trusted Islamic site… Safiyah was seventeen and very beautiful when Muslims killed her father, husband and many of her relatives. In the same day the Prophet of Allah wanted to sleep with her. Here is the exact text of the story.

What is “Islamo-fascism”?
August 6, 2007What is “Islamo-fascism”?
http://www.iranian.ws/iran_news/publish/article_22192.shtml
Jul 20, 2007 Bahman Aghai Diba – Persian Journal Islamo-fascism is a new name but the concept has a long history. It is clearly a combination between the ways of looking at Islam, with the policies of the fascist regimes of the twentieth century in Europe.
(1) Although there are serious discussions about the exact meaning and extent of fascism
(2), and the roots of the term
(3) most of the sources agree that some characteristics are common in all fascist regimes such as:
1- Love of war and the acute need of the foreign enemies that can be accused of all shortcomings
2- Military rule.
3- Lack of tolerance and respect to other ideologies
4- Disrespect of human rights
5- Authoritarian or totalitarian regime6- Demagogic tactics to rally the support of people7- Using zealots and paid lackeys for putting pressure and even elimination of opponents.8- Feeling of having a divine mission9- The arrogance of believing in the superiority of one particular ideology (their own) over all others. We can find all of these characteristics in the regime of the Islamic Republic of Iran:
1- Love of war: There is no limit in fighting against the infidels in the ideology of the ruling regime in Iran. There is no distinction between the military and civilian population. Every person of the un-Islamic world is enemy. The people are divided to those of us and those of the others. The Muslims that do not cooperate with the regime of Iran are from the others. Mullah Khomeini, the so-called founder of the Islamic republic in Iran, always called the Iran-Iraq war (1980-1988) that resulted in killing of millions of people in Iran and Iraq and devastation of the two countries a God given blessing. The administration of Iran under the presidency of Ahmadinejad, claims to revive the legacy of Mullah Khomeini and for the same reason they are very interested to start same kind of war in the region.
2- Military rule. The regime of Iran has been heavily relying on the military elements who are indoctrinated by the ruling Mullahs. The Islamic Revolutionary Guards used to have many sensitive posts in Iran and in the last two year or so (especially since the administration of Ahmadinejad was installed in Iran by the rigged elections), they have taken many civilian posts.
3- Lack of tolerance and respect to other ideologies- the regime of the Islamic Republic of Iran has been promoting the religious intolerance. The freedom of expression for all groups has been violated and the mass media are under the strict control of the regime. Under the new administration in Iran the extent of intolerance towards all religious and non-religious groups are increased.
4- Disrespect of human rights- The principles of the Human Rights as mentioned in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the UN Convention on the Civil and Political; and the Convention on the Social and Economic Rights are all considered as tools of expansion of the Western cultures and they are rejected as such. Killing of the violators of the Islamic rules is permitted by God. The women are not equal with men. Democracy is void. The population of the states, even in the Islamic states is not entitled to decide about their fate. The religious leaders decide what is good for the people. Arts, educational institutions, cultural activities, music, literature, painting, sculpturing, and so on must only are in the service of the Islamic tenets as defined by the religious authorities. There is no freedom of assembly, press and expression, the people rally in the streets when the officials say so and they demand whatever the religious leaders have defined. Religious and other minorities are not supported and there is clear contradiction between Islam and the universal standards of the human rights. Almost all 30 articles of the Universal Declaration of the Human Rights are seriously violated by the Islamic Regime of Iran. The most important cases are: the violation of women‘s rights (the regime of Iran is not ready to accept the equality of men and women and as such it has refused to adhere to the UN International Convention of the Elimination of all kind of Discrimination against women), violation of the fundamental freedoms for the minorities in Iran (including the Baha’is), violation of the fundamental freedoms of the Iranian people, mistreatment of the political prisoners, and denying the rule of law.
5- Authoritarian or totalitarian regime- the regime of Iran is openly enemy of democracy. The Mullahs of Iran have made it clear time and again that they do not believe in the role of people in determining their own destiny. Ayatollah Khazali, a prominent member of the Iranian Constitutional Assembly (called Majles Khobreghan or Council of Islamic Experts) has said: “…what is the meaning of the people’s demands? Who are the people to demand something? The people should only implement the rules of Allah.”
(4) Also, Ayatollah Mesbah Yazdi, the Head of Imam Khomeini‘s Educational and Research Institute, has said: “…the legitimacy of the Supreme Leader comes from the infallible Imams, not from the people.”
(5) Khomeni had said: “…do not listen to those who speak about democracy. These are enemies of Islam. Anyone who wants a republic is our enemy…did you create this revolution to become like Swiss? We break the poisonous pens of those who talk about nationalism, democracy and similar things…” Also, Dr. Ali Shariati, the great demagogue and fabricator of the Islamic hallucinations, and at the same time, the biggest ideological backbone of the Islamic revolution in Iran has said: “leadership can’t be the result of common people’s votes. It can’t come out of the corrupt masses of the people. Imam is the directly responsible for the policy of the society and he has direct leadership in economy, army, culture, foreign and domestic policies…” He adds in another source (Shiitism, a comprehensive party) : “It is necessary to have blind obedience. This is the real meaning of emulation in Shiitism. The same applies to the deputy of the Imam…a person that does not know his Imam, is like a sheep that has lost its Shepard.”
6- Demagogic tactics to rally the support of people- the street demonstrations have become the standard method of the Iranian Islamic regime to show the will and demands of the people. However, it is clear that no rally or demonstration is held in Iran unless all of its arrangements (including the slogans and the resolutions) are defined by the government. The staged demonstrations are manned by the groups that get special privileges from the regime and in many cases the demonstrators do not know the subject of demonstration before they get to the pre-determined places.
7- Using zealots and paid lackeys for putting pressure and even elimination of opponents- the zealots that are trained to attack the opponents are an active part of the governmental apparatus of the Islamic regime in Iran. The religious thugs attack the gathering of the people, enter the houses and places of business and bother the people. They attack the speakers in the places that are not approved by the regime and the women that have not observed the Islamic code of dress. 8- Feeling of having a divine mission- it is one of the most important features of the Islamic regime in Iran that it thinks it has a divine mission to change the world order. The followers of the Hidden Imam in Iran think that he is going to appear and conquer the whole world and they should make themselves ready for the war in the army of the Hidden Imam
(6) The regime of the Islamic Republic of Iran believes that it has a divine mission to fight the Western culture and impose policies that it considers to be Islamic.9- The arrogance of believing in the superiority of one particular ideology (their own) over all others- the regime of the Islamic Republic of Iran believes in the supremacy of the version of Islam practiced by the Iranian Mullahs as the best arrangement for the whole world. For the same reason, Ahmadinejad had asked President Bush to have a free televised discussion with him about which system (the Western liberalism or the Islamic regime as practiced in Iran) was good to be the world order.
(7) The regime of the Islamic Republic of Iran believes that the Western way of life is corrupt. The regime of Iran is seriously thinking that the Western democracies are going to fall, as the USSR fell, and one of these days the Islamic regime will get a chance to introduce its role in the global level. It does not believe in validity of any arrangement with the “Western” infidels and all of the agreements with the West are temporary and subject to abrogation as soon as the Islamic power gets the possibility to do so. For the same reason they want to get nuclear weapons. A look at the regime of Iran reveals that all of these elements are clearly present in those government and politics of the present regime of the Islamic Republic of Iran and it very much deserves to be included under the title of Islamofacist regimes.
(1) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islamofascism It is mentioned in this source that: “Islamofascism is neologism and political epithet used to induce an association of the ideological or operational characteristics of certain modern Islamist movements with European fascist movements of the early 20th century, neo-fascist movements, or totalitarianism. Organizations that have been labeled “Islamofascist” include Al-Qaeda, the current government of Iran, the Taliban, Muslim Brotherhood, Hamas, and Hezbollah…”
(2) http://www.remember.org/his.root.what.html, dated 27 Sept. 1992. In this source, Chip Berlet describes: “…fascism and Nazism as ideologies, involve, to varying degrees, some of the following hallmarks:
1- Nationalism and super-patriotism with a sense of historic mission.
2- Aggressive militarism even to the extent of glorifying war as good for the national or individual spirit.
3- Use of violence or threats of violence to impose views on others (fascism and Nazism both employed street violence and state violence at different moments in their development).
4- Authoritarian reliance on a leader or elite not constitutionally responsible to an electorate.
5- Cult of personality around charismatic leader.
6- Reaction against the values of modernism, usually with emotional attacks against both liberalism and communism.
7- Exhortations for the homogeneous masses of common folk…8- Dehumanization and scapegoating of the enemy…
9-the self image of being superior form of social organization beyond socialism, capitalism, and democracy…”
(3)http://www.opinionjournal.com/forms/printThis.html?id=1100008822, dated 20 August 2006. in this source, Roger Scruton has mentioned: “…the term Islamofascism was in introduced by the French writer Maxine Rodinson (1915-2004) to describe the Iranian revolution of 1978….the word has therefore caught on, not least because it provides a convenient way of announcing that you are not against Islam, but only against its perversion by the terrorists….”

Finsbury Park: Inside the British Jihad [Violence to ‘restore the Caliphate’, Mullah: It’s OK to kill non Muslims for no reason]
August 3, 2007Finsbury Park: Inside the British Jihad [Violence to ‘restore the Caliphate’, Mullah: It’s OK to kill non Muslims for no reason] http://globalpolitician.com/articledes.asp?ID=3205&cid=3&sid=74
Global Politician, NY
Stepping off the subway at Finsbury Park, the change in scenery could not have been more acute. Just an hour earlier, I had been awed by the grandeur of Big Ben, towering over the British Houses of Parliament. It is the symbol of the England in our history books: a beacon of liberty, tolerance, and stability.
Finsbury Park is different. Small shops and ragged apartments line the streets of this working class area of North London. More pronounced than the socioeconomic inequality is the cultural discrepancy. Grocery stores feature Middle Eastern foods and advertisements for cheap phone calls to the East while women clad in veils and burkas stroll with their young children wearing kufis. As Christopher Hitchens remarks of Finsbury Park in the June 2007 issue of Vanity Fair, “Returning to the old place after a long absence, I found that it was the scent of Algeria that now predominated.”1
After a short walk from the subway, I spotted a building at the corner of St. Tomas’ Road with a crescent moon and star at its peak. I walked up the steps to the mosque and opened the door with a bit of trepidation. A clean-shaven young man named Faisal welcomed me in with a cheery smile. Explaining that I was a student from the United States, he inquired, “Have you heard of this mosque before?” I had. With a dismayed look, Faisal replied in broken English “Not good things, I bet.”
Throughout the 1990s and early 2000’s, the Finsbury Park Mosque became a symbol of Britain’s problem with radical Islam and the eerie face of “Londonistan.” The mosque was conceived at the Prince of Wales’ request. King Fahd of Saudi Arabia donated over 2.3 million pounds to construct the building, which was designed to serve the large Bangladeshi community of North London. From 1997 until his dismissal in 2003, however, the fiery Egyptian-born preacher Abu Hamza al-Masri took over as the mosque’s imam. Hamza’s notoriety extends beyond his eye-catching if unfashionable look: an opaque eye and right hook, both consequences of his involvement with the Mujahideen in the late 1980s.2
Hamza rose to prominence on the British Islamist scene, preaching a message of jihad and anti-Semitism. “Killing of the Kaffir (non-believers) for any reason, you can say it is OK, even if there is no reason for it.”3 The “blasphemous, treacherous and dirty” Jews rank high on Hamza’s list of targets. In fact, they are the reason “why Hitler was sent into the world.”4 He touted suicide bombing as an effective means of waging jihad. The ultimate goal, he said, is to see “The Khalifa sitting in the White House, ruling from there like the Prophet Mohammed said that Allah… told him that the whole earth, it will be for Muslims, booty for Islam.”5 After the 9/11 attacks, Hamza declared his support for al-Qaeda. He also led the British-based group Supporters of Sharia (SOS), which seeks to re-establish the Caliphate. According to the SOS website, “Muslims and non-Muslims are being oppressed throughout the world. SOS is one of the organizations struggling to remove this oppression created by man-made laws.”6 Beyond propagating such fighting words, the mosque featured Kalashnikov AK-47 training and served as a base for shipping telecommunications equipment and medical supplies to fellow jihadists in Pakistan.7
Hamza’s activity at Finsbury Park attracted nothing less than an all-star lineup of terrorists:
* Richard Reid — The British-born terrorist who attempted to detonate a shoe bomb on a trans-Atlantic flight from Paris to Miami in 2001.8
* Zacarias Moussaoui — The French Moroccan who earned the moniker, “20th hijacker” for his role in the 9/11 attacks. To date, Moussaoui is the only person tried in the United States for the 9/11 plot. He claims that while he was not part of the 9/11 attacks, he was involved in a wider conspiracy to attack the White House. Moreover, Mousaoui maintains that Osama bin Laden personally instructed him to crash planes into American buildings.9
* Kamel Bourgass — The Algerian convicted last year of a plot to manufacture the deadly poison ricin. Bourgass stabbed Detective constable Stephen Oake to death and injured three other officers while attempting to escape arrest.10
* Feroz Abbasi — London-native who worshiped at the mosque before Hamza sent him to train at terrorist camps in Afghanistan. Abbasi was detained at Guantanamo.11
* Abu Doha — Algerian who was arrested in February 2001 for trying to leave England for Saudi Arabia on a forged passport. He is also fighting extradition to the United States for his involvement in the “millennium plot” to blow up an airport in Los Angeles. Moreover, bin Laden granted him permission to establish the Khalden terrorist training camp in Afghanistan.12
* Rabash Kadre — Took over Abu Doha’s network after Doha was detained. British authorities are currently holding Kadre in prison for a plot to blow up a Christmas market in Strasbourg.13
* Nizar Trabelsi — Tunisian ex-footballer jailed in Belgium for plotting to attack the Kleine Brogul NATO airbase.14
* Djamel Beghal — Recruited Reid, Moussaoui, and Trabelsi for suicide missions. Jailed in France over an alleged plot to attack the American Embassy in Paris. Beghal was so extreme that Osama bin Laden labeled him “over the pale.15
* Kamel Rabat Bouralha — Algerian-born British citizen. Served as a top aide to Chechen terrorist Shamil Basayev, who coordinated the Beslan attack of 2004.16
Despite ominous signs, British authorities’ were slow in confronting Hamza or investigating the mosque’s activities. After Hamza praised the murder of fifty-eight European tourists at Luxor in 1997, Egypt branded Britain a hotbed of terrorism and issued a “Call to Combat Terrorism.” Of its fourteen most-wanted terrorists, seven were based in Britain. The following year, eight British Muslims were arrested and convicted in Yemen for plotting terrorist attacks against British targets in Yemen. The prosecution disclosed that Hamza had masterminded the plot from the Finsbury Park mosque. Though he denied his involvement, Hamza admitted that his son and godson were coordinators in the attack. Ignoring the warnings of Yemenis officials, the British did not move against Hamza.17
The seeming indifference to Islamist violence was not an isolated lapse; it represented one act in the Brits’ larger pattern of inaction. Over the years, the governments of India, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Israel, France, Algeria, Peru, Yemen and Russia, among others lodged complaints about terrorist operations in Britain. In response, Britain refused a string of requests to extradite suspected terrorists including:
* Morocco’s request to extradite the man who planned the May 2003 attacks, which killed forty-five. He was the Founder of the Moroccan Islamic Combatant Group, which the United Nations cited as a terrorist network connected to al-Qaeda with sleeper cells preparing a bombing campaign in multiple European cities.
* A Spanish request for the extradition of Abu Qatada, an al-Qaeda terrorist operating in London, on whom the French had passed information to the British.
* Saudi Arabia’s request to extradite Dr. Mohammed al-Massari, suspected of launching attacks in Saudi Arabia and establishing al-Qaeda’s London office.
* France’s request for Rachid Ramda suspected of organizing a series of bombings in Paris in 1995. (Britain allowed this extradition in 2005).18
To a certain extent, British softness against radical Islam can be attributed to a pre-9/11 naiveté of the terrorist threat. Yet there is also a more sinister explanation: a tacit bargain between British authorities and radical Islamists operating in the country. The jihadists were granted free reign so long as they did not attack England. In the words of a former British Special Branch security officer, “There was a deal with these guys. We told them if you don’t cause us any problems, then we won’t bother you.”19 Al-Qaeda leader Omar Bakri Mohammed similarly testified to the pact. Asked in 1998 why Islamists never attacked Britain, he replied, “I work here in accordance with the covenant of peace which I made with the British government when I got asylum…. We respect the terms of this bond as Allah orders us to do.”20 But following the 9/11 attacks, British aid in the US-led wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, and the 7/7 terrorist attacks, the arrangement has unraveled.
In January 2003, British authorities confronted the Finsbury Park Mosque. One-hundred fifty policemen equipped with riot gear and guns (a rarity in Britain) broke through the front door of the mosque with a battering ram. The raid was part of an investigation into a suspected plot involving ricin poison. Still, the British continued to dither. Even during the raid, British police acted on the advice of their Muslim colleagues by covering their shoes and avoiding intrusions into prayer services, in deference to mosque sensibility.21 They did not arrest Hamza as part of the raid. On the contrary, Hamza continued to preach to thousands of followers every Friday in front of the mosque. The events caused such a ruckus that British taxpayers were forced to foot the bill to keep at least twelve officers on guard.22
Hamza’s reign came to an end in 2004. The United States began to seek Hamza’s extradition for his alleged role in trying to establish a “terrorist training camp” in Oregon. British authorities in turn convicted him on eleven of fifteen offenses for inciting murder and racial hatred, and possessing an encyclopedia of Afghan Jihad, which lists Big Ben, the Eiffel Tower and the State of Liberty as possible targets for attack. After serving his sentence in Britain, Hamza will be eligible for extradition to the United States.23
Since the 2003 raid, the Muslim Association of Britain has used legal means to take over the mosque and install a more moderate leadership. Signaling a new direction, they changed the name of the mosque to the North London Central Mosque in February 2005. Four months later, the new Imam publicly called for help in catching the London subway bombers.24
After removing my shoes at the front-door, Faisal agreed to let me tour the mosque with him. “Everything here has changed,” he assured me as we quietly walked up the stairs, “We are reaching out to the rest of the community, the churches, and MPs [members of Parliament] to show that things have changed.” As evidence, he pointed to a course on Islam the mosque now offers for non-Muslims.
On the second floor, where Hamza once delivered sermons to packed crowds of worshipers, children were gathered in small circles devoutly studying the Koran. Faisal explained that activity at the mosque is flourishing, and has become a welcoming hub for first-generation immigrants adjusting to life in Britain. The numbers seem to support his claim; since the
Management change, attendance at the mosque has tripled.25
Still, all is not rosy at the mosque. Despite efforts to project a moderate image, the new board of trustees is marked by shady leaders. Mohammed Kassem Sawalha, for instance, one of the current trustees, is president of the Muslims Association of Britain. According to US court documents, Sawalha was “in charge of Hamas terrorist operations within the West Bank in the early 1990s.” Perhaps this explains the large advertisement on the front-door of the mosque urging Muslims to “protest the Zionist occupation of Palestine.” The British establishment has reacted cautiously. Mohammed Sarwar, MP for Glasgow Govan and trustee of the mosque, says that Sawalha would remain and claims that he was happy with the way the mosque is operating. Metropolitan Police chief superintendent Barry Norman seems equally satisfied: “I am aware of the background, but if I took the view that I’m not working with this or that person I’d end up spending my whole life in my office.”26
Finsbury Park mosque should serve as a clarion call to policymakers on both sides of the Atlantic. It reveals that the War on Terrorism is not simply a regional conflict. As Finsbury Park’s guest-list reveals, many of most vile terrorists exploited the West’s liberties to launch attacks on the free world. Finsbury Park is the logical consequence of Britain’s strategy of appeasement and complicity in the face of the global menace. A successful approach to combating global Islamism must recognize the jihadist threat within the West and take seriously the public statements of radical leaders who advocate terrorism as a means to reestablish the Caliphate. There can be no compromise with the radical elements within Islam.
Incidentally, France, for all its meekness, has embraced some of the most aggressive domestic anti-terror efforts in the West. Particularly since suffering a wave of bombings in 1986, the French Directorate of Surveillance of the Territory has taken the lead in implementing harsh policies to check radical elements within its borders. The law enforcement effort relies heavily on preemptive arrests, racial profiling, broad prosecutorial powers, and an effective domestic intelligence-gathering network.27 While several French policies against traditional Islamic cultural practices may be excessive, the British should consider looking across the Channel to modify its strategy.
The Finsbury Park incident also suggests a role for the United States. Despite Hamza’s unsavory resume, British authorities did not move to arrest him until the United States sought his extradition. While homegrown terror is prevalent throughout the West, the situation is particularly acute in England. Through both unilateral legal action as well as shared intelligence with its allies, the United States can pressure the oft reluctant Brits to move against homegrown Islamists. Perhaps this may even strengthen the “special relationship” in the ongoing War on Terror.
Positively, burgeoning activity at the mosque since the leadership transition in 2003 suggests that a larger number of Muslims continue to embrace moderate Islam. Policies to combat domestic terror need not operate on the assumption that Islam itself is the enemy. It should be noted, however, that conciliation and negotiation did not lead to the moderate revival. A hard-line raid against the mosque, coupled with the arrest and imprisonment of its key rabble-rousers, created an opportunity for moderates to regain control. When British leaders negotiate with radical leaders, they legitimize these elements of the Islamic community at the expense of moderates. While Finsbury Park’s turnaround is certainly a step in the right direction, British authorities must stay engaged and monitor the mosque’s activities. Expelling Sawalha from the mosque would send the right message.
Ultimately, a larger paradigm shift needs to occur in Britain’s approach to terrorism. The nation must accept that willful blindness will not make the Islamist threat disappear. Only by confronting and defeating homegrown radicals will the nation’s traditions of democracy and justice survive the jihadist onslaught.

By Andrew G. Bostom
FrontPageMagazine.com | July 2, 2007 The largely failed (and/or thwarted) acts of jihad terrorism at the end of this past week in London and Glasgow show once again that the aim of the current Islamic crusade against the West is global in scope, is not about Iraq and is not a fringe development in Islam itself.
What Samuel Huntington aptly termed “Islam’s bloody borders” around the globe—flow from the timeless logic of jihad. Franz Rosenthal, the late (d. 2002) Yale University scholar of Islam, who, 50 years ago, translated Ibn Khaldun’s classic Introduction To History, also wrote a seminal essay entitled “On Suicide in Islam” in 1946. Rosenthal’s research confirmed how Islam extolled “suicidal” martyrdom attacks:
While the Qur’anic attitude toward suicide remains uncertain, the great authorities of the hadith leave no doubt as to the official attitude of Islam. In their opinion suicide is an unlawful act….On the other hand, death as the result of “suicidal” missions and of the desire of martyrdom occurs not infrequently, since death is considered highly commendable according to Muslim religious concepts. (Emphasis added.) However, such cases are no[t] suicides in the proper sense of the term.
These orthodox Islamic views have been reiterated by Yusuf Al Qaradawi—“spiritual” leader of the Muslim Brotherhood, head of the European Fatwa Council, and immensely popular Al-Jazeera television personality, as well as Muhammad Sayyid Tantawi, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar University, the most prestigious center of Muslim learning in Sunni Islam. Sheikh Qaradawi openly endorsed murderous Palestinian homicide bomber “martyrdom” operations against innocent Israeli citizens (all of whom are considered “combatants” who obstruct the “call to Islam”) during a fatwa council convened in the heart of Europe (in Stockholm, July, 2003). For the past decade, Sheikh Tantawi, who is the nearest equivalent to a Muslim Pope, has also confirmed the legitimacy of homicide bombing of Jews, characterizing these grisly attacks as
…the highest form of Jihad operations…the young people executing them have sold Allah the most precious thing of all…every martyrdom operation against any Israeli, including children, women, and teenagers, is a legitimate act according to [Islamic] religious law, and an Islamic commandment, until the people of Palestine regain their land
On July 25, 2005, historian David Littman attempted to deliver a prepared text in the joint names of three international NGOs, but was prevented from doing so by the intervention of Islamic members of the United Nations Sub-Commission on Human Rights. Following repeated interruptions he was unable to complete his speech. Littman was simply trying to support the argument that those who issue fatwas to kill innocent people in the name of Islam are not real Muslims and should be treated as apostates. But as he noted, just before the 7/7/05 London bombings a major conference of 170 Muslim scholars from 40 countries meeting in Amman, Jordan gave an opinion in a Final Communiqué, dated July 6, 2005:
It is not possible to declare as apostates any group of Muslims who believes in Allah the Mighty and Sublime and His Messenger (may Peace and Blessings be upon him) and the pillars of faith, and respects the pillars of Islam and does not deny any necessary article of religion.
This unfortunate communiqué clearly provides immutable protection to authentic Islamic advocates of homicide bombing—like the “esteemed” clerics Yusuf Qaradawi and Al-Azhar Grand Imam Tantawi.
The most recent attempted atrocities in London and Glasgow are contemporary manifestations of foundational Islamic imperatives, rooted in jihad. Denial of this intimate relationship is untenable and dangerous, given the weight of confirmatory evidence, past and present.
Umar Ibn al-Khattab (d. 644), was the second “rightly guided caliph” of Islam, the word caliph deriving from Koran 2:30, and the Muslim notion of the successor to Islam’s prophet Muhammad, a vicegerent of Allah, on earth. During his reign, which lasted for a decade (634-644), Syria, Iraq and Egypt were conquered. Umar was responsible for organizing the early Islamic Empire into a supranational Muslim Caliphate. Alfred von Kremer, the seminal 19th century German scholar of Islam, described the “central idea” of Umar’s regime, as being the furtherance of “…the religious-military development of Islam at the expense of the conquered nations.” The predictable and historically verifiable consequence of this guiding principle was a legacy of harsh inequality, intolerance, and injustice towards non-Muslims observed by von Kremer in 1868 (and still evident in Islamic societies at present):
It was the basis of its severe directives regarding Christians and those of other faiths, that they be reduced to the status of pariahs, forbidden from having anything in common with the ruling nation; it was even the basis for his decision to purify the Arabian Peninsula of the unbelievers, when he presented all the inhabitants of the peninsula who had not yet accepted Islam with the choice: to emigrate or deny the religion of their ancestors. The industrious and wealthy Christians of Najran, who maintained their Christian faith, emigrated as a result of this decision from the peninsula, to the land of the Euphrates, and ‘Umar also deported the Jews of Khaybar. In this way ‘Umar based that fanatical and intolerant approach that was an essential characteristic of Islam, now extant for over a thousand years, until this day [i.e., written in 1868]. It was this spirit, a severe and steely one, that incorporated scorn and contempt for the non-Muslims, that was characteristic of ‘Umar, and instilled by ‘Umar into Islam; this spirit continued for many centuries, to be Islam’s driving force and vital principle.
Umar waged devastating jihad campaigns, and imposed severe limitations upon the vanquished non-Muslims aimed at their ultimate destruction by attrition. He also introduced fanatical elements into Islamic culture that became characteristic of the Caliphates which succeeded his. Indeed, the complete absence of basic freedoms of conscience and expression in these early Islamic Caliphates—while entirely consistent with mid-7th century mores—has remained a constant, ignominious legacy throughout Islamic history, to this day.
C. Snouck Hurgronje, the great Dutch Orientalist observed in 1916 (p.99) that even at the nadir of Islam’s power following the collapse of the Ottoman Empire, the jihad imperative to complete the unfulfilled task of world Islamization, via the re-creation of a supranational Islamic Caliphate, remained a potent force among the Muslim masses:
…it would be a gross mistake to imagine that the idea of universal conquest may be considered as obliterated…the canonists and the vulgar still live in the illusion of the days of Islam’s greatness. The legists continue to ground their appreciation of every actual political condition on the law of the holy war, which war ought never be allowed to cease entirely until all mankind is reduced to the authority of Islam—the heathen by conversion, the adherents of acknowledged Scripture [i.e., Jews and Christians] by submission.
…the common people are willingly taught by the canonists and feed their hope of better days upon the innumerable legends of the olden time and the equally innumerable apocalyptic prophecies about the future. The political blows that fall upon Islam make less impression…than the senseless stories about the power of the Sultan of Stambul [Istanbul], that would instantly be revealed if he were not surrounded by treacherous servants, and the fantastic tidings of the miracles that Allah works in the Holy Cities of Arabia which are inaccessible to the unfaithful. The conception of the Khalifate [Caliphate] still exercises a fascinating influence, regarded in the light of a central point of union against the unfaithful (i.e., non-Muslims).
Nearly a century later, the preponderance of contemporary mainstream Muslims from Morocco to Indonesia, apparently share with their murderous, jihad terror waging co-religionists from al-Qaeda the goal (if not necessarily supporting the gruesome means) of re-establishing an Islamic Caliphate. Polling data released April 24, 2007 from a rigorous face-to-face University of Maryland/ WorldPublicOpinion.org interview survey of 4384 Muslims conducted between December 9, 2006 and February 15, 2007-1000 Moroccans, 1000 Egyptians, 1243 Pakistanis, and 1141 Indonesians-reveal that 65.2% of those interviewed-almost 2/3, hardly a “fringe minority”-desired this outcome (i.e., “To unify all Islamic countries into a single Islamic state or Caliphate”), including 49% of “moderate” Indonesian Muslims. The internal validity of these data about the present longing for a Caliphate is strongly suggested by a concordant result: 65.5% of this Muslim sample approved the proposition “To require a strict [emphasis added] application of Shari’a law in every Islamic country.” Moreover, an earlier survey of British Muslims indicated that up to 40% of them wished to replace Britain’s current liberal democratic system with the Shari’a.
Notwithstanding ahistorical drivel from Western Muslim “advocacy” groups such as the Muslim Association of Britain, which lionizes both the Caliphate and the concomitant institution of Shari’a—despite their legacy of brutal, often genocidal aggression, and imposition of a blatantly discriminatory, totalitarian system of rule devoid of the most basic human rights—as promulgators of “a peaceful and just society”, the findings from these polls of Muslims across the Islamic world, and within the United Kingdom, are ominous.
Ibn Warraq has observed aptly that the most fundamental conception of a Caliphate, “…the constant injunction to obey the Caliph-who is God’s Shadow on Earth”, is completely incompatible with the creation of a “rights-based individualist philosophy.” Warraq illustrates the supreme hostility to individual rights in the Islamic Caliphate, and Islam itself, through the writings of the iconic Muslim philosopher, jurist, and historian, Ibn Khaldun (d. 1406), and a contemporary Muslim thinker, A.K. Brohi, former Pakistani Minister of Law and Religious Affairs:
[Ibn Khaldun] All religious laws and practices and everything that the masses are expected to do requires group feeling. Only with the help of group feeling can a claim be successfully pressed,…Group feeling is necessary to the Muslim community. Its existence enables (the community) to fulfill what God expects of it.
[A.K. Brohi] Human duties and rights have been vigorously defined and their orderly enforcement is the duty of the whole of organized communities and the task is specifically entrusted to the law enforcement organs of the state. The individual if necessary has to be sacrificed in order that that the life of the organism be saved. Collectivity has a special sanctity attached to it in Islam.
In contrast, Warraq notes, “Liberal democracy extends the sphere of individual freedom and attaches all possible value to each man or woman.” And he concludes,
Individualism is not a recognizable feature of Islam; instead the collective will of the Muslim people is constantly emphasized. There is certainly no notion of individual rights, which developed in the West, especially during the eighteenth century.
Almost six decades ago (in 1950), G.H. Bousquet (pp. 104-5), a pre-eminent modern scholar of Islamic Law, put forth this unapologetic, pellucid formulation of the twofold totalitarian impulse in Islam:
Islam first came before the world as a doubly totalitarian system. It claimed to impose itself on the whole world and it claimed also, by the divinely appointed Muhammadan law, by the principles of the fiqh, to regulate down to the smallest details the whole life of the Islamic community and of every individual believer….the study of Muhammadan law (dry and forbidding though it may appear to those who confine themselves to the indispensable study of the fiqh) is of great importance to the world today.
And sowing terror in order to promote the Islamization of infidel territories, is consistent with jihad tactics that date back well over a millennium.
Ibn Hudayl, a 14th century Granadan author of an important treatise on jihad, explained the original methods which facilitated the violent, chaotic jihad conquest of the Iberian peninsula, and other parts of Europe, during the prior six centuries (p. 40):
It is permissible to set fire to the lands of the enemy, his stores of grain, his beasts of burden — if it is not possible for the Muslims to take possession of them — as well as to cut down his trees, to raze his cities, in a word, to do everything that might ruin and discourage him, provided that the imam (i.e. the religious ‘guide’ of the community of believers) deems these measures appropriate, suited to hastening the Islamization of that enemy or to weakening him. Indeed, all this contributes to a military triumph over him or to forcing him to capitulate.
The 20th century historian Charles Emmanuel Dufourcq—who studied the Islamization of Spain, Portugal, and North Africa in the Middle Ages—characterized (p. 40) the impact of these repeated attacks, indistinguishable in motivation from modern acts of jihad terrorism, such as the Madrid bombings on 3/11/04, the London bombings of 7/7/05, or the (mostly) foiled attacks in London and Glasgow of 6/29 and 6/30/07:
It is not difficult to understand that such expeditions sowed terror. The historian al—Maqqari, who wrote in seventeenth—century Tlemcen in Algeria, explains that the panic created by the Arab horsemen and sailors, at the time of the Muslim expansion in the zones that saw those raids and landings, facilitated the later conquest, if that was decided on: ‘Allah,’ he says, ‘thus instilled such fear among the infidels that they did not dare to go and fight the conquerors; they only approached them as suppliants, to beg for peace.’
Writing in 1978, Dufourcq (d. 1982), worried (even then) that historical and cultural revisionism of this established legacy of jihad (in particular, the Muslim conquest and colonization of the Iberian peninsula) might precipitate a recurrence of,
…the upheaval carried out on our continent (i.e., Europe) by Islamic penetration more than a thousand years ago
Less than a decade after Dufourcq’s death in 1982, the historian Bat Ye’or (from a 1991 French interview, published in English translation in 1994) echoed his intuitive concerns about Europe’s re-Islamization, and warned more broadly,
I do not see serious signs of a Europeanization of Islam anywhere, a move that would be expressed in a relativization of religion, a self—critical view of the history of Islamic imperialism…we are light years away from such a development…On the contrary, I think that we are participating in the Islamization of Europe, reflected both in daily occurrences and in our way of thinking…All the racist fanaticism that permeates the Arab countries and Iran has been manifested in Europe in recent years…
Myriad intellectuals in denial might now, at last, wish to study with care the continuing legacy of jihad war, and pay serious attention to its modern Muslim proponents—including the jihadist cleric Yusuf al-Qaradawi, who has been lionized—with tragic irony—by London’s own current mayor as a “progressive.” Here are some more of Qaradawi’s apposite views on jihad and jihad terrorism:
It has been determined by Islamic law that the blood and property of people of Dar Al—Harb [the Domain of Disbelief where the war for the domination of Islam should be waged, i.e. including within Western Europe and America] is not protected. Because they fight against and are hostile towards the Muslims, they annulled the protection of his blood and his property… in modern war, all of society, with all its classes and ethnic groups, is mobilized to participate in the war, to aid its continuation, and to provide it with the material and human fuel required for it to assure the victory of the state fighting its enemies. Every citizen in society must take upon himself a role in the effort to provide for the battle. The entire domestic front, including professionals, laborers, and industrialists, stands behind the fighting army, even if it does not bear arms.
Allah has also made the prophet Muhammad into an epitome for religious warriors [Mujahideen] since he ordered Muhammed to fight for religion… the first assignment is to prepare the hero who is willing to put his life in his own hands for Allah’s sake, and he who does not care whether he encounters death or death encounters him…He [i.e., a self—immolating bomber] kills the enemy while taking self—risk, similarly to what Muslims did in the past… He wants to scare his enemies, and the religious authorities have permitted this. They said that if he causes the enemy both sorrow and fear of Muslims… he is permitted to risk himself and even get killed.
Qaradawi stated his ultimate goals explicitly—consistent with orthodox jihad ideology—at a Muslim youth convention in 1995 in Toledo, Ohio: “We will conquer Europe, we will conquer America!”. Subsequently Qaradawi issued a public fatwa on December 2, 2002, calling on Muslims to conquer Europe, stating, “Islam will return to Europe as a conqueror and a victor after being expelled from it twice – once from the south, from Andalusia, and a second time, from the east, when it knocked several times on the doors of Athens.” Qaradawi’s fatwa ruled, in addition, that Muslims should re-conquer, “former Islamic colonies to Andalus (Spain), southern Italy, Sicily, the Balkans and the Mediterranean islands.”
In light of the most recent attacks in London and Glasgow will the West’s intellectuals finally awaken to this threat—the jihad? Will they study with seriousness and urgency the theological-juridical underpinnings of the Islamic jihad, and its 14 centuries of brutal, imperialistic conquests, continuing through the present, whose ultimate goals are the re-establishment of a supranational Muslim Caliphate, and imposition of Shari’a totalitarianism across the globe?
Julien Benda in his classic 1928 La Trahison de Clercs (The Treason of the Intellectuals) decried with prophetic accuracy how the abandonment of objective truth abetted totalitarian ideologies, which lead to the cataclysmic destruction of World War II. Ignoring, dismissing, or worse, continuing to vilify thoughtful and intrepid scholars such as Dufourcq and Bat Ye’or reflects the broader La Trahison de Clercs of our time: the complete failure of Western intellectuals to study, understand, and acknowledge the heinous consequences of the living Islamic institution of jihad war.
Finally, in an ironic but hopeful turn of events, perhaps this impassioned mea culpa from former British jihadist Hassan Butt will at last prove clarifying for the willfully blind and timorous non-Muslim elites in the West:
…it isn’t enough for Muslims to say that because they feel at home in Britain they can simply ignore those passages of the Koran which instruct on killing unbelievers. By refusing to challenge centuries-old theological arguments, the tensions between Islamic theology and the modern world grow larger every day. It may be difficult to swallow but the reason why Abu Qatada – the Islamic scholar whom Palestinian militants recently called to be released in exchange for the kidnapped BBC journalist Alan Johnston – has a following is because he is extremely learned and his religious rulings are well argued. His opinions, though I now thoroughly disagree with them, have validity within the broad canon of Islam. [emphasis added]
The Muslim community in Britain must slap itself awake from this state of denial and realise there is no shame in admitting the extremism within our families, communities and worldwide co-religionists…Muslim scholars must go back to the books and come forward with a refashioned set of rules and a revised understanding of the rights and responsibilities of Muslims whose homes and souls are firmly planted in what I’d like to term the Land of Co-existence. And when this new theological territory is opened up, Western Muslims will be able to liberate themselves from defunct models of the world, rewrite the rules of interaction and perhaps we will discover that the concept of killing in the name of Islam is no more than an anachronism.

Islam’s Global War against Christianity
By Patrick PooleFrom Nigeria to Indonesia, Christians are under siege in virtually every single country in the Muslim world, the victims of countless acts of discrimination, depredation, brutality, and murder that are so widespread and systematic that it can rightfully be called the new Holocaust. This time, however, the perpetrators of this Holocaust aren’t wearing swastikas, but kufi skull caps and hijabs. Some of the oldest Christian communities in the world are subject to relentless attack and teeter on the brink of extinction at the hands of the “Religion of Peace”: Palestinian Christians in Gaza and the West Bank; Assyrian, Syriac and Chaldean Christians in Iraq; Coptic Christians in Egypt; Evangelical and Orthodox Christians in Eastern Ethiopia and Eritrea; Armenian Orthodox Christians in Turkey; and Maronite Christians in Lebanon.
Several of these communities date back to the beginning decades of Christianity and all have weathered wave after wave of Islamic persecution for centuries and more, but in the very near future some will simply cease to exist. In our lifetime, the only trace of their past existence will be in footnotes in history books (and probably only Western history books at that).
Meanwhile, we in the West hear much from radical Islam’s apologists how the US is engaged in a war against Islam citing of our military actions in Afghanistan and Iraq. We are lectured on the inviolability of the Muslim ummah and justifications of defensive jihad.
But an extensive search this past weekend of the websites of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, the Islamic Society of North America, the Islamic Circle of North America, the Muslim American Society, the Muslim Student Association, the Fiqh Council of North America, and the Muslim Public Affairs Committee – the most visible institutional representatives of Islam in America found not a single mention or reference of the religious persecution of Christians by their Islamic co-religionists, thereby making them tacit co-conspirators in the Final Solution to the Christian problem in the Muslim
world. The global war on Christianity by Islam is so massive in size and scope that it is virtually impossible to describe without trivializing it. Inspired by Muslim Brotherhood ideology and fueled by billions of Wahhabi petrodollars, the religious cleansing of Christians from the Muslim world is continuing at a break-neck pace, as the following recent examples demonstrate.
Iraq: In the current issue of the American Spectator, Doug Bandow observes that centuries of dhimmitude have left Christians in the war-torn country without any means of self-defense. Washington policymakers have refused to lend assistance for fear of showing partiality, despite the murder of hundreds of Iraqi Christians, the kidnapping and torture of Christian clerics, the repeated bombings of Christian churches, the torching of Christian businesses, and the flight of close to half of the entire Iraqi Christian population since April 2003. Those who remain have been subject to the imposition of shari’a by the Shi’ite Mahdi Army and Sunni militias (al-Qaeda doesn’t bother with such niceties, preferring to murder them immediately instead), including the recent published threat in Mosul of killing one member of every Christian family in that city for Christian women not wearing the hijab and continuing to attend school. (Be sure to remember that the next time an Islamist apologist claims
that the hijab is a symbol of women’s liberation.)Egypt: Journalist Magdi Khalil chronicles in a new report (“Another Black Friday for the Coptic Christians of Egypt”) the campaign of violence directed against Christian Copts almost weekly immediately following Friday afternoon Muslim prayers. Inspired by Islamist imams preaching religious hatred in mosques all over the country and protected by government officials willing to look the other way, rampaging mobs of Muslims set upon Christians churches, businesses and individuals, from Alexandria to cities all the way up the Nile. Coptic holy daysare also favorite times for Muslim violence, which the Egyptian media likes to
describe as “sectarian strife” – as if it were actually a two-sided affair.Gaza: Ethel Fenig recently noted here at American Thinker (“More Gaza
Multiculturalism”) the systematic destruction of churches and desecration of Christian religious objects by Jihadia Salafiya following the HAMAS takeover of the Gaza Strip from their Fatah rivals and the imposition of Islamic rule. The head of Jihadia Salafiya told reporter Aaron Klein that any suspected Christian missionary activity in the area will be “dealt with harshly”. (Ynet News)Saudi Arabia: According to the Arab News, a Sri Lankan Christian man barely escaped with his life in late May when he was found working in the city of Mecca, Islam’s holiest city, which is officially barred to non-Muslims. In December, an Indian man had been sentenced to death for accidentally entering the city, but was spared after the Indian embassy made an urgent appeal to the
Saudi Supreme Court.Pakistan: In Islamabad, Younis Masih was sentenced last month to death under the country’s frequently invoked blasphemy laws, which were also used against six Christian women suspended from a nursing school after they were accused of desecrating a Quran. And as protests against Salman Rushdie’s knighthood raged, a Muslim mob armed with guns, axes and sticks attacked Christians worshipping in a Salvation Army church in Bismillahlpur Kanthan. (Associated Press; United
Press International; Mission News Network)Bangladesh: Almost a dozen Christian converts in the Nilphamari district were beaten last week by Muslim villagers wielding bricks and clubs, and threatened with death if they did not leave town immediately. Local hospitals subsequently refused them treatment. Christians in the area have also been prevented from using the only potable water well in the area after a pronouncement by religious authorities at the mosque in Durbachari. This came after 42 former Muslims were baptized as Christians in the local river on June 12. (Compass News Direct)
Malaysia: Government authorities demolished a church building on June 4th in Orang Asli settlement in Gua Musang in Ulu Kelantan, despite prior government approval of the project. The church was built on donated property after the entire village had converted to Christianity just a few months ago. Also in late May, the Malaysian high court ruled that Muslims who convert to Christianity must appeal to the religious shari’a courts to officially be deregistered as Muslims and reregistered as a Christians. (Journal Chretien; Associated Press)
Indonesia: Agence France Presse reported last month on an attack by the Islamic Anti-Apostate Movement, who stormed a church service in a Protestant church in the West Java town of Soreang. The AFP report notes that more than 30 churches have been forced to close in West Java and dozens more throughout the country in recent years due to Muslim violence, churches which were among the few spared during the outbreak of hostilities during 1997-1998, where hundreds of Christian churches were burned to the ground and never rebuilt.
Turkey: The Christian community is still reeling from the torture and ritual
slaughter of three Protestants at a Christian publishing house in Malatya in
April by an armed Islamist gang, which was preceded by the murder last year of Catholic priest Andrea Santoro in Trabzon and the assassination of Armenian journalist Hrant Dink in Istanbul in January. An additional six men allegedly associated with the same Muslim gang were arrested on May 30th for plotting an attack on a Christian pastor in Diyarbakir. (Lebanon Daily Star; ADKNI)Cyprus: The Cyprus Mail reports that during a meeting last month in Rome the Archbishop of the Cypriot Greek Orthodox Church pleaded with the Vatican Secretary of State for the Pope’s assistance to pressure Turkish authorities in restoring and repairing Christian sites and churches in areas occupied since the invasion of the island nation by Turkey in July 1974 and the ethnic cleansing of 160,000 Greek Christian Cypriots.
Lebanon: More than 60,000 Christians have left the country since last summer’s war between Hezbollah and Israel, fearing the rise of both Sunni and Shi’ite extremism and terrorist activity. The Sunday Telegraph recently revealed the results of a poll finding that at least half of Lebanon’s Maronite community were considering leaving the country. More than 100,000 have already submitted visa applications at foreign embassies.
Algeria: In what is considered one of the more “moderate” Muslim regimes, Al-Quds Al-Arabi announced that the Algerian government has just issued regulations requiring advance permission for non-Muslim public events, following a 2006 law aimed at limiting Christian evangelism in the Kabylia region and the Sahara. (MEMRI )
Morocco: In the country that The Economist magazine in 2005 anointed “the best
Arab democracy”, all Moroccans are considered Muslims at birth and face three years in prison if they attempt to convert. They are also prohibited from entering any of the few churches permitted to operate for the foreign
inhabitants of the country. Moroccan Christians must operate covertly for fear of imprisonment by the government and attacks by Islamists. They cannot bury their dead in Christian cemeteries, and they must be married by Islamic authorities or face charges of adultery. Late last year, a 64 year-old German tourist, Sadek Noshi Yassa, was sentenced to six months in jail and fined for missionary activity. (Journal Chretien)Nigeria: Police in Gombe arrested sixteen suspects after a Muslim mob stoned,
stripped, beat, and finally stabbed to death a Christian teacher, Christiana
Oluwatoyin Oluwasesin, after she caught a student cheating on an exam in March.
Her body was then burned beyond recognition by the mob who falsely accused her of desecrating a Quran. The suspects were released last month without any charges being filed, prompting Christian leaders to accuse government authorities of a cover-up and raising concerns about additional attacks.
(Christian Today)Eritrea: Just a few weeks ago, the Islamic government installed a new Orthodox Patriarch after they removed the previous Patriarch and placed him under house arrest for no stated reason. Compass News Direct reported in February the death of Magos Solomon Semere, a Christian who had been imprisoned in a military jail for four and a half years for illegal Christian worship, the third Christian to die in government custody since October. Authorities have also cracked down on unapproved churches, jailing at least two thousand Protestants and members of the Medhane Alem Orthodox renewal movement since the beginning of the year and publicly burning confiscated Bibles. (Christian Post; Compass News Direct ; Journal Chretien)
It is not an exaggeration to say that I could extend this brief list ad
infinitum with additional Islamic countries and news items from just the past few weeks’ worth of incidents of violence, discrimination, intimidation and murder targeting Christians in the Muslim world. In many instances, the government and religious authorities in these Muslim countries work hand-in-hand in their campaign of religious persecution.A scene in the Academy Award-winning movie Schindler’s List gives us some insight into what is happening all across the Muslim world with respect to Christianity. As the SS Commandant Amon Göth and his Nazi Stormtroopers prepare to liquidate the Jewish ghetto in Krakow, Poland, Göth (played in the movie by Ralph Fiennes) gives his men a peptalk:
For six centuries there has been a Jewish Krakow. Think about that. By thisevening, those six centuries are a rumor. They never happened. Today is history.
This scene is being repeated in the Friday sermons in mosques and on Islamic satellite TV all over the world, only this time it is the Christians in addition to the Jews who are targets. Great efforts are being made to make the two-thousand year history of Christianity in North Africa, the Middle East and Southeast Asia a blasphemous rumor. Soon students in Turkey will be taught that the Hagia Sophia, the greatest architectural structure in the Muslim world, wasn’t built by the Christian Emperor Justinian in the Sixth Century, but by the Sultan Mehmed II a thousand years later after the Ottomans seized the Byzantine capital. That Christians lived at all in the Muslim world, let alone that much of the territory occupied by Muslims used to be Christian lands before the Islamic Wars of Conquest, will be nothing but a rumor by the end of this century punishable according to the precepts of shari’a.President Bush announced last week that he will be sending a special envoy to the Pr57-member Organization of Islamic Countries. Hopefully, the systematic persecution of Christians and other religious minorities will be the first and primary item in the new envoy’s portfolio, with the 2007 annual report ( http://www.uscirf.gov/countries/publications/currentreport/index.html ) of the US Commission on International Religious Freedom and the State Department’s Annual Report ( http://www.state.gov/g/drl/rls/irf/ ) on International Religious Freedom, which name virtually every single country in the OIC for its human rights abuses and religious cleansing, as evidence for our country’s concern.
The fact remains that not a single Christian or Jew lives in peace in the Muslim world, and if it is truly our nation’s foreign policy to spread democracy around the world, this issue is the perfect topic for us to press. Back at home, raising Islam’s global war on Christianity should be the immediate response to the seemingly endless media grievance machine of radical Islam’s Western apologists. Until they begin to address the new Holocaust perpetrated in the name of Islam, their complaints and denials are nothing but bald hypocrisy.

Germans Should Nix Mega Mosque
June 26, 2007Germans Should Nix Mega Mosque
By J. Grant Swank Jr. (06/26/07)
http://www.americandaily.com/article/19387
Next to a famous Christian landmark Muslims intend to construct their huge mosque, one of the largest in Europe.
The Germans should nix this project now.
Per the London Daily Telegraph from Cologne, “the construction of one of Europe’s biggest mosques near a globally famous Christian landmark has sparked a furious dispute in Germany.”
There sits the Cologne Cathedral. Now the 2,000-seat mosque is to be towering via twin
minarets skyscraping 170 feet upward.
“’Muslims have been here for 40 years, yet people are praying in back rooms,’ said Seyda Can, an Islamic theologian at the Turkish Islamic Union in Cologne. ‘There are 120,000 Muslims in Cologne, that’s 12 percent of the population. We should not hide.’”
Hide?
They are hiding every day of their lives. How? By remaining mute as zealot Muslims lay low both Muslims and non-Muslims. Why are not the 120,000 Cologne Muslims at the forefront in outrage over their religionists blowing up innocent citizens, canceling out a democracy plant in Iraq and Afghanistan, and threatening the planet with destruction?
All the more that Germans should see to it that these cowardly quiet Muslims have no say in their environs. They obviously have chosen to say nothing regarding the Islamic carnage that the rest of the world has had to put up with. Why then should they have a “say” with their mosque in Cologne.
Their “say” is always nothing relating to the present-tense fear enveloping the globe. Nothing. They say nothing. Yet they want to have their minarets reaching into German heavens.
Is this to prove some sort of prowess? If so, what prowess? It certainly is not prowess in defense of civility, in honor of non-Muslims who deserve the right to live in this world in peace.
As a Christian I protest loudly that such a monument to silent Muslims be cancelled out with prominent aplomb. Let the protests be loud and clear, heard around the world, agreed upon by all those who defend human rights.
The Muslims wail that they don’t have their place, that they have had to pray in “back rooms,” that they deserve as prominent a place in society as anyone else. Then let them prove their love for liberty, their understanding of democracy, and their defense of every mortal having the right to exist without fear of being laid low by a fanatic Allah devotee.
These Muslims clamoring for their mega mosque have to learn that they are not going to get everything they demand just by stomping and stuttering. Their lives have to prove to decent people that they too are decent; otherwise, they should be deported. Why? Because these very Muslims have laid low non-Muslims? Not necessarily, but because they have laid low in their silence while zealots have raised the sword against every nation on Earth.
Saying nothing in light of Muslim carnage is playing on the side of the murderers.
If persons professing to be Christians were slaughtering non-Christians and cowardly Christians who did not join the slaughter, real Christians would be vocal 24 / 7, in every country, by every means.
Not so with Muslims. They just sit there. They don’t do anything to quell the bombastic fanatics. Yet they demand a mega mosque in Germany. If that is granted, the Germans have lost their sense of all that is fair and right.
“Work will begin this fall on the $30 million mosque, which will include huge glass and stone cupolas and two six-story minarets.
“’It’s not a popular plan,’ said Jorg Uckermann, the district’s deputy mayor.
“’We don’t want to build a Turkish ghetto in Ehrenfeld. I know about Londonistan, and I don’t want that here,’ he added, referring to a phrase used to describe the rising trend of radical Islam in England.
“Mr. Uckermann is part of a curious coalition of protesters that united Jewish intellectuals with hard-core nationalists.
“Leading the charge is Ralph Giordano, a prominent Jewish author, who wrote recently that Germany is witnessing a ‘clash of two completely different cultures’ and questioned whether they could ever be reconciled.
“Stating that he had received death threats for his opinions, he added: ‘What kind of a state are we in that I can face a fatwa in Germany?’”
With media now reporting suicide bombers in Europe, Canada and the United States, why
should any of these free lands open up to a mega mosque? It could very well turn out that mosques globally are nothing but sleeper cell hangouts. What will liberty nations do when blow-ups such as occur daily in Iraq become daily fare in free territories?
Remember that street killers have the upper hand. No politicians, no peacekeepers, no humanitarians can turn around the bloody agenda of street killers. They always win. Check out Iraq and Afghanistan, Darfur and Sudan as horrific examples.
Why then invite them to house in a Cologne mega mosque?
